fishermanferg Posted September 23, 2016 Share Posted September 23, 2016 hi ive just,took delivery of my xv535 1992, its not bad for its age ,there are some age related rusty bits ,there a box like think under the bike it looks like I think some sort of collector box ,its in pretty poor shape will need replacing soon ,are these boxes a separate part of the exhaust system ,can the be taken of ,any info appreciated Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

eastanglianbiker Posted September 24, 2016 Share Posted September 24, 2016 yep common problem on them replace it or at t he very least drop it off give it a good wire brushing if it doesnt then fall apart give it a good coating of a heat proof paint it will give it a bit longer life then or if you can weld any places it does rot through just weld a plate over it Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
fishermanferg Posted September 25, 2016 Author Share Posted September 25, 2016 thanks for the info ,can the collector box be separated from the exhaust pipes ,from underneath the bike ,don't know if they are different from a Honda cm I had the downpipes went into one end of the box and the exhaust pipes went into the other end ,which meant I had to take the exhaust pipes of is this the same for the xv535 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
