Strange indicator problem

Recommended Posts

So here goes, i have a hyosung gt 125r with aftermarket LED indicators that worked fine no problem

i then fell off and broke the front right indicator

thought i would just buy a new LED indicator and there would be no problem

fitted the new one it just stays lit, the back one on the same side does nothing, doesnt even light up, i only snapped off the front right

so hmmm, tried the old one that came with the bike the orginal one, and it flashed real quick, the back one on the same side did nothing

the left side which is LED works fine

the rear light doesnt turn off but i have never noticed that before

anyways ama bit stumped as to what can be wrong

Hi and welcome to the forum

You may have broken the rear one too I would check it out

fit the new LED to the front then replace the rear LED with the stock one

Ok so tried again with the original indicator the manufactures one that came with the bike (not led) and it flashes very quickly as does the one at the back

Also my test light flashes when connected up

So it looks like somehow it doesn't recognise an LED on the right front even though there has been one there before

You need to get soldering iron and torch kit [few pounds in halfrauds]to do the job and resistors (40p x2) to slow the flash...good fun :| Alternatively re-wire the bike and/or put the original repeaters or set the whole darn thing on fire. Last option might not solve the problem but sounds like a good laugh :D

If I knew how much stress this "easy" job will cost me I would choose the last option first :thumb:

did you remove the rear LED? and fit the standard one?

then it all started flashing just very fast?

No I left the rear as the LED and replaced the front one with the standard non LED indicator and it started to flash real quick.

right then you need to as sleepy says and fit some resistors

the old indicators you had fitted may have had built in indicators and thats why they worked first time

Indicators on the indicators, oooh are these the super bright varients?

Standard fitment will be built in resistors, after market are ceap because they are built as 5w side markers and fitted to indicator units. Hense the fast or no flash

Was odd as the ones that were in the bike were LED ones, Anyways have ordered some resisters so will see if that does it

Thanks. Was a bit strange as they didn't look like they did, and the new Ones looked the same. Anyways have ordered some resisters and I will report back. Thanks for all the help on here.
