Hi all,

Looking at adding a kill/disable switch to my CG125-ES4, as currently, the barrel will let the key come out and the bike will still happily keep running, leaving me to stall it and run back into the road to grab my keys...

I know with older ones, it can be as easy as shorting the coil to ground but wanted to make sure it's the same for the newer bikes, or if anyone could recommend the best wire to break

Cheers

Yeah, what Stu said - solving the problem will do you more favours than circumventing it, and it's a simple one at that. Fitting a killswitch wouldn't save you any grief if the key fell out and someone behind you drove over it

A new barrel and key would make too much sense and a carabiner to keep the keys on the bike would be an easier backup plan. (Amazingly for a 10+ year old bike, I have both keys and they work in all the locks)

The killswitch is just another way to make it harder to misappropriate as well.

At least you have a spare key then when one bounces out down the road and you lose it!

CGs have a reputation for this - I keep mine attached to the front brake switch cable with a carabiner.
