Guest Posted October 9, 2018 Posted October 9, 2018 hello;Do you think biker still loves to ride with WAXED Cotton jackets? Recently I like a wax jacket, but I am a little bit confused about the functionality and protection. Does it really help on the road or not Quote
Guest Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 Some motorbike clothing just looks good. some protects from the cold, some protects from the rain, some protects you from the road if you come off at speed.Your waxed jacket might protect from rain and maybe cold but if you come off will it protect you enough from gravel rash or worse.I have come off with and without protection, with protection is better. I associate waxed jackets with scooter riders in the 60s that's not a bad thing it is a styleThe Audax waxed jacket popular with motorcyclists has Italian sheek but no armour I can see.Urban Rider stocks waxed cotton jackets with full weather protection and armour too.You don't have to give up the waxed cotton style and chic if you want protection and armour. It not only looks good but does all the rest too. Quote
raesewell Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 Wax jackets are cold and smell like wet dog. So if that's your thing, dive in Quote
Guest Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 I wear traditional leathers and modern artificial fibre gear. and I still feel cold it depends on your layers as much as the overgarments.Additionally we are bikers it is our responsibility to smell like a wet dog and I for one will bear that heavy responsibility on my shoulders. The benefit is that blind people know we are there, its a safety thing. Quote
Guest Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 There are other options for protection, bowtex do a Kevlar undershirt with armour pockets, which you could wear under a Barbour. Knox also do armoured undershirts which are very good, I use one myself, better than armour in motorcycle jackets. Quote
