Bongo Posted April 13, 2023 Posted April 13, 2023 Hi everyone, I'm currently restoring my old gilera after it being stored in the garage for about 4 years. I took the carb out and cleaned it but after putting it back in it wont start unless I put my hand over the air intake, and with doing so the bike just revs extremely high for a few seconds then dies. I have tried adjusting the idle screw and fuel screw but I havent had any luck but maybe I'm not doing it right. I should also say that the air box is removed. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Quote
Old-codger Posted April 13, 2023 Posted April 13, 2023 Have you put the slide in the wrong way round? usually there is a peg in the carb that stops you doing this but I know of old carbs that dont have this so if you put it in 180 degrees out the bike will rev its head off. 1 Quote
Bongo Posted April 14, 2023 Author Posted April 14, 2023 Yea It's definitely in the correct way, although the slide doesn't seem to be seating the full way down. Is there any way to adjust the slide height? Quote
Old-codger Posted April 14, 2023 Posted April 14, 2023 Check that the cable is seated properly in the slide, its easier if you remove the carb so you can see the slide moving and look for obstructions. Quote
Bongo Posted April 14, 2023 Author Posted April 14, 2023 I'll try that when I'm home. Would that explain my problem if it was the case? Quote
