Brought a good working peugeot satelis 250 RS, great milage, but I think the fuel pump has died as its not making a noise when you turn key! Was working all good and well until engine started spluttering and misfiring.

But my question is the previous owner fitted the scoot with a 12v 6ah battery, but the manual says it needs a 12v 12ah. Would the fuel pump and/or many other components just fail if there's not enough juice in the battery?

Thanks.

Yes, the bike could have cooked the low capacity battery which would have struggled to cope with the bike long term and gave up the ghost. hopefully due to that directly or indirectly hasnt damaged any components.

Thanks for the reply, I was looking into the CCA rating and how much this bike theoretically needs but there's no information about that in the manual or the Internet, had a quick look at bike.. Wiring hasn't melted, lights work, engine cranks as it should.. But the fuel pump sounds like it's dying, which could of been a component that that battery took with it!.. I'll look into it more when the bike recovered!

something like yuasa ytx12-bs Which is 10ah 180cca.
Due to the cv transmission they need a big battery for the extra electric gibberish (extra ecu, accuater, sensors and wiring etc) that goes ontop of the normal gubbings of a bike.

They can just go but potentially yes, depends on how long its been in there.

Any how just junk the old one and fit a proper good quality battery if you're gonna keep the bike more than 6 months it will be cheaper in the long run especially if you ride all year.

the ytx12 battery which most info points me too is the same as what was on my triumph daytona 955i, three big pistons with fine line electricals off the factory floor, it could manage that in minus degrees, so it wont struggle.

Just measure the case that the battery sits in to the new battery and ensure it's polarity point is facing the correct way too.

Yes you read correct a really small yuasa 12v-6ah battery being held inside the bracket by wood, i did a long journey, when i got there the bike just stopped dead, the pump wasn't pumping fuel, obviously tried to start it, warning like came on for low battery, but the EFI warning light stayed off so i'm confused if its the just a dead low powered battery! as i swear if the pump had an issue it would trigger that EFI warning light.

Thanks for replying!

If a battery is goosed that can set lights off, fault codes and poor running, which that what the bike would have thought with a small battery.
The efi warning can be set off if there is any need for it and set up for it, like injector, coil, sensor, knock sens, tps etc.

efi warning dont cover the pump generally, same with cars, had it with the tank pump on the old golf, no lights, no warning,  just cut out and never wanted or could be started.

Now im not saying the pump isnt dead but you defo need to address the battery.
