Please help-Carb problem! :(

Hi

I am having a bit of trouble with my kinroad XT50 (what a surprise!) I was cornering and decellarated to round then accelerated to exit the corner which all seemed normal, but when I tried to decellerate-well frankly it diddnt! So I ended up having to cut off the engine and get my dad to pick me up with his van (which was then written off 2 days later-how lucky!) Its not the wire(that moves freely and looks fine) but its also not anything to do with the needle moving around, that works fine, but for some reason it just doesnt decellerate when the needle is forced back in by the spring on the plug(the black plug that forces the needle down and up).

Has anyone got any ideas because I really, really dont want to spend £40 + P and P for a new carb. Thanks Jon.

Have you taken the carb out and checked it then, twisting the throttle etc?

take throttle off carb and put back on dont rev while putting on and also hold the throttle fully off while putting on

also turn the screw on the carb with the sping on anti clockwise 1 turn that may sort it

Yes-It all turns, the cable pulls the pin in and out wihtout any problem,

I have just tried your idea-it diddnt work, nothings changed-it may be of use to know that althought the engine begings to build up revs the minuet the engine is turned on, the throttle stills makes the revs go up-how perculea

is the wire in rght and is sping that goes in the carb and on bottom of cable still long enough

Appears to be-the plug that pushes the pin in isnt catching or anything

when you put throttle in make sure its right way and push the black thing all way down

when you let go of the throttle does the slide snap back down?

Yes it does-well, it did when I had the carb off and was viwewing from the air filter hole-whilst the throttle bable was attatches as normal

have you checked it with the carb on?

while you have the carb off it might be worth taking the float bowl off and checking that the jets are all in place.

Hi all

Its fixed, I gave it all a good clean with de-ironised water then noticed that the black plug could not go all the way down because the engive tickover had tightened itself so was not allowing it down by about 8mm! Its all sorted noe-thanks for all the help from all of you.
