RideWithStyles Posted July 4, 2024 Posted July 4, 2024 (edited) Rusting can happen to cbfs which is mostly surface damage and prevention matters is advised (anti corrosion solutions) but for them to be structurally weak takes ALOT of neglect and winters. benellis and other Chinese bikes are like that from the factory which they sealed under the cheap paint, they’re degrading while in their shipping containers so even after 6 months of best summer use from the owner it has already started, set in and not really reversible which shouldn’t be expected with a new bike. most of these cheap bikes suffer with electrical issues which I also had numerous, ground wires of the chassis’s for the ecu and immobiliser. Loom too tight, wires grade too low, connectors poor, clocks and headlight fogging, welds failing within weeks of each other, engine vibration from a design flaw, and many more to give you an idea. Replacing parts is difficult if you even luckly they still make it or have one festering on a substandard shelf somewhere in Yangland, costly and timing to get hold of is months. mid way through finding out the dealer didn’t want/lost the franchise so I had to find another willing benelli dealer to fulfill the many parts claiming on the warranty puts less of a shine on the ownership. just to clarify it was a 2019 benelli leoncino 500, not much has changed for this model even the newer releases bigger ones, also the other ones in their model line up. wifey had a used 2011 Honda cbf125, got it with 3thou on the clock, sold it with over 15thou. Over something like 7years and Only lost £500 on a 13yr old bike because it was the right buyer (help another soul out) and we wanted a quick sale as we didnt have much use for it now so would have lost even less if we were bothered. the benelli was just at the 4year mark, less official mileage but lost over £3500 and was in better/newer looking condition, had new tyres and battery, service yada yada and still lost well over £3500…..could of bought two used cbf125s , plus all their services, insurance and tax for three years with tons of fuel left over with that loss. so yeah my advice with the experience of having many different bikes and reason given is just don’t do it.
