nordicsoulphotos Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 Purchased a 2014 Kymco Zing ii Darkside 125cc My issue is I can start the bike from the kickstarter, I give it a bit of throttle and slightly rev it for 10-15 seconds and the bike ticks over fine, then I can turn off the bike after a few minutes and am able to use the ignition switch. I can't start from the ignition switch without using the kickstarter though I have put a new sparkplug in a new battery cleaned the air filter Has anyone else had a similar problem or could recommend a fix? I know I can use the kickstarter but it'd be handy to just press the ignition switch instead Quote
Simon Davey Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 @nordicsoulphotos Could be the starter motor sticking, so when you use the kick start, it frees up. Try putting it in gear then rock it back and forth, put it back in neutral and try the electric start. 1 Quote
RideWithStyles Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 Starter motor or its wiring id check first. 1 Quote
nordicsoulphotos Posted August 17, 2024 Author Posted August 17, 2024 Thanks guys, completley new to bikes so no doubt I'll be asking more questions and advice, I'll give these suggestions a try 1 Quote
bud Posted August 19, 2024 Posted August 19, 2024 Does it turn over with the switch, or is it slow when it does? The starter motor needs quite a bit of voltage. So check the cable connections are clean and free of corrosion. Quote
