Aland Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Hi all, just got a 2015 ybr in red having difficulty starting using the ignition switch, but will eventually start with the Kickstarter, occasionally will cut out after 30-60 seconds. Any thoughts what I can check? I am not Uber mechanically minded, but can do most basic jobs.. thanks in advance Quote
Simon Davey Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Alan, where in the country are you, maybe someone on here is local and would be willing to come over?? You already have this thread going here Quote
RideWithStyles Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Sorry could be quite a few, ignition, wiring, fuel. Id look at the fuel first, tank, line, pump, carb. then ignition…… Quote
Aland Posted February 13 Author Posted February 13 Ok I have a fuel injection so no carbs, I've replaced the starter motor and battery in the last month. I'm in Yorkshire as indicated on my profile, I was thinking of cleaning the throttle body, but unsure about removing it, and checking the fuel filter, but I'm not a mechanic, so a little scared of removing and not being able to replace Quote
RideWithStyles Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Throttle body shouldnt need removing just for simple cleaning though id be very surprised if a little bit of dirt will be your sole issue with what you describe. What level of service has this bike done? id try to stick with the basics first. id be checking the fuel filter, it will be either one in the tank or better an external one, remove it and see if its mint and clean? Sometimes the filter prolapse internally, when you try to as for fuel it sucks seal. have you check that none of the pipes from the tank have kinks or trapped? Id also see if you have a vacuum problem on the tank. Open the fuel tank, does loads of air rush in? Close it and try to start the bike, if it starts but does shortly afterwards, open the tank again does it repeat? If yes then a blocked hole or pipe is the problem. if not then more likely a filter or something down the line needs looking at. check your getting spark and some form of compression 1 Quote
