IndigoJo Posted Thursday at 21:22 Posted Thursday at 21:22 I've had my car licence since 1995 so I have a no-strings AM licence. I have made a few attempts to do my CBT this past year because I want to get something a bit more nippy and more economical than my car, which is showing its age, and I want to keep it on the road as long as possible. Sadly every time I try, nerves get the better of me and an uncompleted CBT round here is nearly £200 down the drain. I've been thinking that rather than make another attempt, I should get a moped, which I can ride already. That way I can learn at my own pace on back roads near home and then do a CBT (and possibly big bike lessons) when I've built my confidence up. I don't have to pay for a set-piece CBT with other students waiting for me. The moped obviously costs more, but I can sell it if I ultimately decide I don't want to continue with it. It also means I can skip the 125; the insurance costs round here wipe out the fuel economy compared to something like an Enfield 350 even for a new pass. I haven't looked up insurance costs for a moped yet. Quote
Hairsy Posted Thursday at 21:32 Posted Thursday at 21:32 You mention that you've had a few attempts at CBT. What has been the most challenging part(s). A moped is an option but it can be quite intimidating to ride modern roads with so little power / speed. At the very least, if you can find a geared 50cc bike then that would help you to develop more of the skills you'll want later. Quote
bud Posted Saturday at 18:32 Posted Saturday at 18:32 What sort of roads would you be riding the moped on? Some can be quite intimidating on such a slow vehicle. Quote

bud Posted Saturday at 22:47 Posted Saturday at 22:47 Could be ideal to get some experience with then. Quote
