from the sounds of it, could be a fuel blockage? or maybe a dodgy connection to the fuel pump?

nope nope nope nope nope...

its the reg rec.... basically the reg rec controls the charging voltage. if this if f**ked, running the bike with /without lights will cause the same effect.

i am presuming that when u hit the started theres nothing there.. if it was fuel related u'd shill get the whiney noise of the bike trying to start.

althought u bumped it off... as the coils are spinning this generates a lil bit of enery/ spark.. what ever u wanna call it. yor bike will run with a knackered reg reg altho u will need to keep your revs up very high.... especialy junctions, roundabouts slowing down etc... u will have probs noticed that the engine tries to die when u drop ur revs..

NC's are all know for cooking Regulator Rectifiers - one of the lil problems with Grey Imports.

worst case scenario is that one of your coils are fubar - low or high tension coil. altho this would not cause the bike to cut out completely.. only misfire badly.

worst worst case scenario is the CDI is bolloxed - in which case i recomment if u get another.. u buy the one with the GOLD label, and NOT the BLUE - the Blue once are restricted - gold are de-restricted.

if u have an 87' or 88' nc23, these are all de-restricted as standard, if u have and 89' it wil have a blue label CDI as standard.

u could also go all out and buy a HRC CDI for about £250 but they like rockinghorse shit

if need be... my bike gonna be off road for some time now.. u can borrow my reg rec n run urs for a week or so to see if that elimindates the problems... if so.. then u know what u need..

you have done exactly what i did

when he pulled up the bike still turned over but just took ages to start

but could still be the reg/rec i had similer probs on my gsxr
