Braided hoses

Hey all

The brake hoses on my fazer are definitely original ones, which means they're now seven years old... so definitely need replacing. I recently bled brakes/changed pads and everything went well, but I've noticed my fronts and rears getting less responsive recently. I bled them this evening and small black bits of rubber where coming out along with the fluid, so I'm guessing its time for a replacement!

Now I'm looking at s/s braided hoses with s/s fitments... what have you guys fitted and where did you buy them? It seems that Goodridge and HEL are the main types... anyone have any experience with them?

Also, when I change the hoses (will probably wait until mid summer), I'm guessing its advisable to completely overhaul the calipers and MC by changing piston seals (and pistons if needs be), dust seals, nipple valves, o-rings etc.

Cheers,

Rick.

:stupid: i replaced the lines on my bandit and katana, something you might wish to add would be speedbleeders, these replace standard bleed screws, and have a valve inside, therefore making bleeding a simple one man operation..

oh and keep the fittings clean and maybe a little vasleine to keep the oxidization of the nickle at bay.. just looks tatty otherwise..

don't go for coloured cables, with your wheels etc, it will look OTT, just go for the clear coated stuff.

Thanks for the advice guys... I'll just crack on with the hoses then and, as you say Stu, clean everything up. What duya reckon the black bits were? I'm assuming its flakes from the rubber hoses due to their age.

Yeah I was thinking about colours and plain stainless steel fitmets and black rubber hose sleeves are the way to go... as you say, it'll be OTT otherwise!

Cheers guys.
