Ingah Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 Just a quick one guys - currently sitting outside on my CG tapping away. Have just put the bike back together having left it with the back wheel off for the last month. The bike has barely been used in 4 months so I immediately suspect old fuel to be the problem. Engine starts but the second I go to apply revs it cuts out. Have left it idling for ages then tried but no luck. What's the most likely solution to be? Quote
Stu Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 blocked main jet i would say i would give the carb a good clean Quote
Ingah Posted May 21, 2009 Author Posted May 21, 2009 blocked main jet i would say i would give the carb a good clean Et voila! One CG125 carburettor. To be honest though, i'm not really sure what to do with it now... Any suggestions of how best to go about cleaning it?Checked the main jet and it was clear (could see through it, and all the holes in it). Gave it a blow anyway. The pilot jet appeared to be blocked (A on diagram), but after blowing it's now unblocked. Could this have solved/been my problem? One more thing, B fell out from the carb, and i found the hole in which it fits but does anyone know which way it goes back in? (or even what it is?) Quote
Pete Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Yeh any blocked jets could cause idling problems. Best thing to do is get anything off of the carb that isn't metal and blast the whole thing with carb cleaner. It's great when it goes 'pop' while it's stripping all the crap off!The picture's quite grainy, but I think that little metal thing goes on the back of the float. You hang it in between the bits at the back and it just hangs there (until you put everything back together, then it sits there because it's upside down when you put it back on!). Look at this link, ignore the red circled part but go up a little bit and look inside the holed part of the float. There's a little bit of wire, I think that's the part you're looking at:http://media.photobucket.com/image/insi ... /float.jpg Quote
Ingah Posted May 23, 2009 Author Posted May 23, 2009 Right have just given the whole unit a good spray - those popping noises are almost therapeutic. Just got to put it back on at some point and hope I do it right cheers for the help guys, will let you know if my problem is fixed. Quote
Ingah Posted June 1, 2009 Author Posted June 1, 2009 Hmm something is definately not right. Have reconnected the carb and fuel tank and turned tap on and within a few seconds fuel was coming out of the overflow pipe behind the centre stand. Have turned the tap off again to stop the flow of petrol on to the floor. Anyone know what i've connected wrong? Quote
