finally, i thought this was about your old CM...

check it wasn't stuck in gear... or that the front brakes haven't stuck on.. put it on the centre stand and rotate the rear wheel by hand, and if it doesn't move, operate the gear lever into neutral,

if it still doesn't move undo the bolts holding the rear brake caliper on and take it off,

if the back wheel moves but the bike doesn't off the stand its the front brakes.

i think you'll find if its stood for a while the front brakes have seized on, .. not a difficult task, grab a haynes and strip them down and fit new seals, currently doing something similar to my rear brake caliper..

How longs it been stood, you could have a project on your hands,

Oil and Filter change. essential

was the xj seca liquid cooled? don't think so... (if so coolant change)

air filter

new plugs

fresh brake fluid

check brake pads, and renew (depends on where stored, how long, and life left)

clean, and oil chain.

wash, and dry fully

check tyres and pressures

replace stale fuel.

charge battery.

hopefully fire up... and grin..

can you push the rear wheel forward on the adjuster, slip the chain off the sprockets, and turn the engine over with a big ratchet/spanner with the plugs out?

i think you need the front sprocket cover off to do this, ratchet on the sprocket retaining nut..

just looking in the Haynes on mine, theres a hex bolt / nut on the 'timing rotor'..

I think this is right on the end of the crank shaft and so has a more direct action on turning the engine over.

its mebby advised that way because of the gearing or something i.e. putting all the force through the small sprocket to turn the 'big' engine over could hurt it?

I dunno just a theory ;)

EDIT: it should be simple enough, it's only a single caliper and piston... but i'd upgrade the line/hose and overhaul the master cylinder too... (the lever end) as they degrade with time..

Wemoto do a Clymer Manual for £22..

about £36 for seals and a new brake piston..

try wemoto (XJ550 81-83 Seca)

wemoto do a brake caliper kit for the 81-83 XJ550, it might cover the seca...at £28
