(if so coolant change)air filternew plugsfresh brake fluidcheck brake pads, and renew (depends on where stored, how long, and life left)clean, and oil chain.wash, and dry fullycheck tyres and pressuresreplace stale fuel.charge battery.hopefully fire up... and grin.. chrisgatguis Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 can you push the rear wheel forward on the adjuster, slip the chain off the sprockets, and turn the engine over with a big ratchet/spanner with the plugs out? Quote

chrisgatguis Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 just looking in the Haynes on mine, theres a hex bolt / nut on the 'timing rotor'..I think this is right on the end of the crank shaft and so has a more direct action on turning the engine over.its mebby advised that way because of the gearing or something i.e. putting all the force through the small sprocket to turn the 'big' engine over could hurt it?I dunno just a theory Quote

(the lever end) as they degrade with time..Wemoto do a Clymer Manual for £22..about £36 for seals and a new brake piston..http://www.cmsnl.com/yamaha-xj550rk-sec ... partslist/try wemoto (XJ550 81-83 Seca)http://shop.wemoto.com/index.dyn?oid=2147914wemoto do a brake caliper kit for the 81-83 XJ550, it might cover the seca...at £28search by model XJ550, click on Shop, http://shop.wemoto.com/ Quote
