Rear Shock Absorber Overhaul

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Thinking about overhauling my rear shocks, there are a twin unit (not Monoshocked).. anyone done this..? i've seen spring compressors, which i know i'll need, but can only find ones for cars, which have wider springs than the narrow ones on my bike...

what about the other parts, bushes,. bump stops, oil etc.. or is a set of replacements the only way to go..

would love to keep the piggyback look.. (even though its purely design)

Sorry buddy only ever done the bushes upper and lower on mine before, anything above that and it goes to a specialist or gets replaced. If its a shock that can be serviced then might be worth digging around for a place to get it done, and get them set up for you at the same time.

There are usually listings for places that do it in the back of bike mags.

Try mhracing.com, Mark does my suspension servicing, and he's highly recommended, top bloke too, just got these back from him a couple of weeks ago.....

Theres a company advertising refurb for £80.. fresh oil, set up for my weight, etc..

does that sound about right?

I've decided that the shocks need overhauling, so have contacted some companies to see their response, in the mean time I have managed to wangle a set of Koni's (now badged IKON) Dial a rides, so can still ride whilst they are being sorted..

Thanks all...
