I am looking for helmet in the style of a paintball helmet, that's obviously road legal.

I have looked at motocrosser helmets, but they all seem too long and big, and I want one that's small and 'grips' my face.

I will probably have to buy an open face and just use sunglasses and bandana like crusiers do?

You could do that, bandana/neck buff pulled up over your nose to look cool. You can get some buffs with a skull's mouth and nose on that look awesome when used like that.

Only thing with an open face helmet though is that there's no facial protection at all. If you come off, your face will tell the story...forever. People who ride with open face helmets may disagree with me, but for the sake of a particular look, it ain't worth it in my opinion.

I saw a guy in the Triumph shop today who had a full face helmet but wanted to have the wind in his face. He'd taken the visor off and put some goggles over the top instead. How about something like that?

Damn, I never even thought about what would happen if I crashed :?. I checked out the Shoei Hornet Helmet and it's out of my price range. About £350 out.

Hm I'll look into that.

My latest Veemar helmet cost £60. Full face. Tricomposite compound. Quiet at speed. A perfect fit and a good safety rating. Don't get mixed up with a good helmet and an exclusive paint job. Race replicas usually cost a lot more. Try lots on, make sure they fit. Only use an open face if you're not bothered about the way your face looks after a minor spill. 8-)

open face don not protect the chin in an accident, and this is exactly why motrcross and full face helmets chin piece is a distance from your face, if it was a close as in your picture (for another sport) then on impact it would smash into your chin, as there is no crush space...

consider if you need exhaled Air Resusitation, how it would be a bummer with a smashed chin/mouth..

there are no second chances, an accident only needs to kill you once..
