  1. Someone else from Lochgilphead! What are the chances.......!!!
  2. Thanks folks, I am going for the in house option and removing SWMBO shoes. If you never hear from me again you'll know why!!!!
  3. Morning folks, I am well into recommissioning my st1100 which I intend to keep for many years. I am working in a dry wooden garage but I dont think we're out of the condensation days yet. I'll be removimng the drive shaft whilst I deal with the swing arm. What's a good way to protect it? My thoughts at the moment are to give it a light ACF50 and wrap in brown paper I use for masking when spraying. I'll jeep the ACF off the splines and universal joint. Sound reasonable as it'll be off for a month or so? (I've secured the front end better now!) Thanks, Dave
  4. Good morning, I am way out west in Scotland with no garages near me. I am in Grantham, Lincs, next week and planning to bring the ST1100 wheels down to get new tyres. Can anyone recommend a place please? I assume I can leave brake discs on but as a newbie I thought I'd check! Thanks!
  5. Much easier to get a DAS course on a geared bike then follow with an auto of some sort. I tried to find an auto course, impossible. I did the geared DAS and now have a Honda ADV scooter.
  6. Forecast said dry so I took to the single track back road loop around western Kintyre looking across to Jura and Islay. These ADV350s perfect for the twisty, hilly, single track where benefits of auto best seen. Back to my desk now.......
  7. Passed my full license last week. Project bike in my van too heavy to unload on my own, and collecting Hinda ADV350 scooter soon. Happy days.
  8. Intensive DAS December. Continue training and assessment until A license achieved. Find a bike to work on to compliment the ADV350 which is on order. May- Poland and Germany following the route of the Long March WW2 POWs, my grandfather one, forced to do in the worst winter on record in 1945 ahead of advancing Russian troops. 80th anniversary next year. July- Tour de France northern France 3 stages. September - some further bike training, IAM or a like. Looking forward to it.
  9. I'm near Lochgilphead. Nearest school Balloch, so 2 hours considering the state of the Rest and Be Thankful!
  10. Morning folks, Just saying hi! Moving to powered touring from cycle. Drive for my job and had to do special qualifications so roadcraft is realistically probably just ok for a car driver. CBT booked and theory. Hoping to get A2 license in time to tour to Tour de France start in July. We will see! I'll be lurking and learning as I progress. Nearest instructor to me is 2 hours away by car so considering intensive course to save commute. Dave
