  1. Forgot to say I changed the in line fuel filter as well. Please excuse my ignorance as I am not that mechanically minded, sometimes the bike runs well and then takes off like mad under hard exceleration bit like a powerband. I can only find 2 pipes from the tank. 1 is for fuel and the other comes from round the back of the fuel tap and goes into the carbs, is this something to do with vacuume and if it has a kink in it will this cause the proplem as it looks like it does. Might have to replace the pipe as it looks a bit short
  2. Hi all Need help. I have resurrected an old gsx 750 es 1984 model. I have replaced the cdi, coils, leads and plugs, changed the oil and air filter(stock item). She starts 1st time with a little bit of choke and runs fine through the gears. Red lines all the way but if I cane her for more than a few miles she starts to miss and just stops. I have to wait a few mins, she starts but on 2 cylinders and then starts to go ok after a few miles. Had a run out tonight and scratching around was ok but it happened again. On the motorway was running fine but the just conked out. Had to wait 10 mins and then it fired up on 2 cylinders, couple miles later was running fine. Seems strange that normal running and trip out to loonmies cafe she goes well but anything over the limit for just a short time and she lets me down.
  3. I will take some pics and post. Had a look and it seems that the down pipes will fit inside the collector in the Harris as they look a lot smaller diameter. It looks like it would need a ring to fill the space around the down pipes to make a nice tight fit inside the Harris. Also the angles look ok, maybe some movement needed but doesn't look impossible. Once I cut the down pipes there's no going back. Hope to cut the pipes still on the bike from underneath with a small disc cutter as I don't want to disturb the pipes to much at the headers
  4. Thanks, I will have a look and see if it can be done this weekend
  5. Hi all Nearly finished restoring a 29 year old gsx750es. Problem I have is that it has a horrible neta 4 into 1. I have managed to pick up a nice condition Harris pipe without the down pipes. Can I cut the down pipes on the neta near to the collector and slide the ends onto the Harris.
  6. Sorted it out. Put in new coils and a CDI from an old GSX thousand and the engine is very sweet now. Revs right through the range
  7. It's stuttering, drop the revs down it and its ok. Feels like fuel starvation but why
  8. Not sure what's wrong. I have an old gsx 750 es. Starts first time and ticks over ok. Serviced last week, new plugs, oil, filters etc. Goes well up to 8000rpm but no further in any gear. Anyone have an idea why this is happening
  9. The neta is in good nick but just hate the look and size of it.sounds Ok but it has to go
  10. I have been renovating a 1984 model. It's back on the road now. Going to respray the body work next winter but she's looking good after spending 5 years in someone's shed. What I am after is a decent 4 into 1 exhaust. It currently has a neta which I hate, it looks bad and I am sure it is very restrictive. I have heard that early oil cooled GSXR,s exhausts will fit so can anyone confirm this as getting an old lazer or Harris pipe is very difficult
  11. Because I don't need big brother restriction. Been riding for 30 years. If your worried about bikes doing over a ton then we just all as well go and get pushbikes
  12. Being doing some research on this, it appears that there is a plate or contact behind the speedo that can be de activated by bending it back so that it can't make contact when hitting restrictor speed. Going to have to open up the clocks and have a look inside or see if Suzuki UK can give me some more info
  13. Thought that was the case and suspect that speedo is not that spot on and is picking up the restrictor before 112mph. She should be good for nearly 130mph. How do I do i get of the restriction
  14. HI 1st post for me. I have resurrected an old GSX 750 ES. Took her out for its 1st run after being off the road for 5 years. The problem I have is the top end, gets up to a ton and no more. Carbs are fine, new plugs leads etc but I found out that it was an import possibly from Denmark via japanese JDM. There is red light on the clocks that would normally would be the side stand light but this bike has japanese symbols writing above the light and it comes on once you get near a ton. When it lights up it starts to run rough like its being restricted and then cuts out completely and won't restart for about 10 mins. Can anyone offer help on this as its a nice bike but this is a real pain
