  1. Hey guys,

    I need to update the insurance policy for my DT 125R SM (2005) and have a few questions;

    I has just been pointed out to me that there is a non-factory, DEP exhaust on the bike.

    For insurance purposes, would this exhaust increased the performance of the bike and would it be enough to warrant informing my insurer?

    Also, I am unsure whether the bike is fit with an immobiliser. How can I check?

  2. Hey guys,

    Does anyone know whether the Yamaha DT-125R SM (2005) has an electronic alarm or immobilisers and whether it has any "secure markings" like an electronic marker?

    The user manual only makes reference to an "Ignition Circuit Cut Off System" - I take it this is not an immobilisers of sorts?

    many thanks,

    J

  3. Hey guys,

    Where is the best/cheapest site to look for bike gear (helmet, jacket, boots, etc) online?

    Alternatively, is there a 'bike superstore' anywhere in the London area that takes the top spot?

    Just passed my CBT & looking to get kitted out with gear for a 125,

    which part of London you looking in??

    West essex but work in central London...

  4. Hey guys,

    Do matte black helmets tend to scratch more easily than glossy finishes? And, when they do scratch is the matte material/color solid the whole way though the shell or does it leave a different color underneath the scratch?!

    Ps, I am referring to budget matte black helmets (if that makes any difference)

  5. There's a whole host of online bike stores that you could chose from.....and a lot depends on the type of gear and manufacturers that you want...... :wink:

    Try GetGeared, Ghostbikes, M&P, ........but most of these sites have an eBay shop....so maybe look on there first..... :wink:

    One word of warning though......I wouldn't but a crash helmet without trying it on first.......they vary quite a lot in size......and the fit is the most important thing to make sure is right..... 8-)

    Thanks a lot man.. yeah I realize about helmet sizing; thats why I was wondering if there were any good stores local to the london area?

  6. For over 125cc you'd have to do the CBT then DAS. Add about another 5/600 quid to the CBT cost - if you pass first time, usually need 3/4 days on the bikes

    budget 2-300 for your own gear too (if you're prepared to Ebay it)

    Thanks mate... so the 5/600 quid is for the Direct Access course, including the test at the end?! What happens is I fail and have to take the test again? Is it another £5/600 quid?

  7. Hey guys,

    I am based in the UK & want to learn to ride a bike. Was wondering whether anyone might be able to answer a couple of questions;

    For a 125cc bike:

    How long is the training & how much does it cost?

    Which test do I need to take & how much does it cost?

    For anything above a 125cc:

    How long is the training & how much does it cost?

    Which test do I need to take & how much?

    I am 26, have been driving for 9 years with a full UK driving license with no points.
