  1. Old thread resurrection....

I don't quite understand parts of this, if you have an a2 license and are looking to upgrade it to an a1.

How can you practice on the appropriate a1 bike legally when that power isn't covered by the prev license restrictions?

And I'm aware the op was querying whether he'd get away with doing the a1 test on a restricted bike without realising without the examiner realising, which I think is a good point....if they don't accept dynos then they can only go on the manufacturer specifications and if it's a big bike whether it's secretly restricted or not they wouldn't know otherwise???

  2. Nobette in the maroon Vauxhall vectra or astra 1.8 X-reg.

Deliberately almost pulled into the side of me (happened to be in my car), causing me to brake. Then under took a cyclist and two cars at a roundabout, almost squishing the cyclist and cutting them all up.

I have to say that I've seen much worse manouvers but never any done with such ignorance and complete, utter disregard for anyone else. All done very deliberately, no apologies. The type of driver who WILL kill someone one day. Disgusting.

    Rant done.

  3. I don't think there is anything wrong with the changes to the fines etc. It is a better deterrent/punishment.

The only things that worry me are the police officers application of "justice", the fact that IMHO, despite what anyone might ever say, I believe police officers/areas etc have targets to hit or a promotion/reward based system for how many fines and tickets are issued each month. And the greedy government obviously.

  4. My wife sort of had a point recently I asked why she didn't move out of outside lane, her reply "nothings coming up behind if it does I will pull over"

I thought was a fair answer and tbh its the ones that don't pull over when faster drivers approach that are the problem.

Fine if you have someone driving who is half decent on their mirrors, but 99% hardly ever use them, but it still does not get away from the fact that in the UK we drive on the left, not on the right, and (without wishing to cause offence) it sort of confirms, given your wife's attitude (and the others) as most being lazy drivers, uneducated and with a complete disregard for the rules that exist on the Motorway.

Lol no offence its why I asked her in this instance, I've long learned not to mention some of the things the wife does but overall she's a decent driver :)

Just a thought on this, your supposed to return to the inside lane so your not cutting across 3 lanes to leave the motorway and it makes the road easier for drivers to read (what people are doing etc). Surely if your doing 70mph (the speed limit!) in the outside lane then no one should be up your arse or trying to overtake as they wouldn't be able to without speeding.

The faster drivers who are clearly breaking the law are just as much the problem.

  5. I would say that speed limits are about right overall.

There are very few, if any at all roads that I know where I would say speed limits are too high.

There are plenty I would say it is just right.

And there are a few roads that are too slow.

The balance is about right IMO. I'd rather have some roads too slow than too fast.

The problem is the amount of idiot drivers (regardless of age as I have been targeted by an elderly couple so determined to aim their little 1.2 micra at me that they've done a u turn whilst joining onto a busy motorway/sliproad roundabout and proceeded to drive around it the wrong way) who just drive to the speed limit or above regardless of road conditions or kids/schools or roadworks around and seem to have 0 road sense at all.

That's my essay on the subject anyway
