  1. If i fall off, i'm gonna do it in style! haha, only kidding ideally i will never have to use it for its purpose but i would rather buy good stuff now than find out it's useless 2cm from the tarmac. I do have a leather frank thomas jacket, but that's going to be a "It's a nice summers day with no chance of rain let's bike!" kind of jacket
  2. Tell me about it! I'm considering putting it on my credit card for 2 weeks and paying that off haha!!
  3. Wise man dimmers Definately not buying crap i think max budget for gloves will be £50. Jacket is £80 boots £100 helmet £149 trousers £80 all fairly decent brands and feels like good quality
  4. Doing my DAS in june when i hit 24 Getting my sinnis cafe november 2nd
  5. Depends on the style of helmet, Full face or open face, but i don't think you'll find much difference between helmets if it fits right it shouldn't make much difference. But again try different ones on and see how you find them.
  6. Where abouts do you hail from?
  7. Hey all, i've decided if i can convince my friend, that i will go to motorcycle live, primarily to check out some bargain gear Does anyone know the answer to this. You buy a ticket, and go any day you want? It's not very clear on the website i'm on! Also is anyone from here going on the first sunday if so may say hello!
  8. May have to sneak up to birmingham on the sunday
  9. Pretty well worded reply there Problem is all the bike shops around me have gloves either as thin as a wet paper bag, or in the price range of £130 for some high tech sports gloves
  10. As most people will tell you on here. Helmets should never be brought online as you just don't know what you are buying, And all helmets feel differenet on different people, so go into a shop and try all the ones you like on, if you don't find one there thats perfect, move on. In your CBT the instructor should have told you how to make sure a helmet fits correctly. As for pinlocks the following is quoted from dimmers "they are about £20, and they can be swapped between the same make of visor quite easily. You just need to ensure your current visor has the holes in place to accomodate a pinlock. these guys are pretty good (http://www.racevisors.co.uk/category/pi ... or-inserts), don't know if they are the cheapest, but they have a wide selection, as you have to buy a pinlock visor specific to the helmet/visor you currently have. So if you're are intending to buy a different brand/model helmet in a few months then you may will need to buy a new pinlock insert. (just Google 'how to fit a pinlock insert' and you'll get loads of youtube clips on the subject " Hope some of my newbie advice helps
  11. Hi, i have been looking on ebay for gloves, and have narrowed it down to 3 pairs. Opinions? Wether i should bother with any or which ones look like they would hold up best. I think BUFFALO ones look strongest and more durable. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200838211617? ... 248wt_1164 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/350679632804? ... 623wt_1402 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290620469445? ... 514wt_1402
  12. Had to post about it. I passed (i know you can't fail but i don't have to come back!) Almost no errors, except for sounding my horn once while trying to hit indicator, and resting my foot on the rear break. Other than that i have good anticipation skills and excellent bike control aswell as riding in a safe manner :D so happy and it was so much fun i can't wait to get back out on a bike again which unfortunately won't be till the new year. Though i may do some additional classes to keep my skills up and gain more road experience with an instructor
  13. I am finishing my CBT on sunday, was canceleld last time, i am quite excited especially as i know what to expect and what bike i am riding (Suzuki van van) i will post on here monday how it goes if i pass or not
  14. Cheers for the help! Probably wont' be able to go as i work 5-6 days a week i may not be able to guarantee going But i will definately check ebay out for some good stuff, as for helmets i have a couple shops that sell them nearby, just not much in the way of clothing.
  15. Hello all, I'm new to biking just passed my CBT (minus a little thing i have to re-do) and have a Sinnis cafe 125 on order (love cafe racer look) i am looking to get a set of textile clothing to wear on a day to day basis to work and back and general driving around. I have a budget of around £500 i can always go a little higher if it is really worth it. but what i will need is the whole thing! so Jacket, Trousers, Gloves Boots and a helmet. Preferable colour black and cream (Bike colour) But as long as its not all mismatched that would be fine to , Also any good dealers in my area (Essex) Would be great. Also not sure if it will help finding things with prices but im 6ft 16stone 23 year old. Hope to hear some good response Many thanks Thomas
