  1. Mmmmm gixers
  2. Welcome. I say get ur theory done and then do your das course then you can ride what you like, a small bike or bigger one and you will also see when you do the course that a bigger bike is just as easy to get experience on a bigger bike
  3. More of the gsxr
  4. I said a,b,c as its rider inputs, wet weather and winter riding isnt a cause
  5. Im sure there would be some kind but you may find that its a bit hefty even though its an offroad course, find out prices vs hiring a bike from an instructor with insurance already and you will be able to ride that there with an escort
  6. 30 mins riding on the roads, minimum required was 2 hours I thought. Well done anyways, keep in good habits and dont run before u walk and you will be fine
  7. Yes you can get a pillion lift to the test site, im pretty sure you will have to show insurance to complete test on your own bike (or ur fathers) as any damage to the course must be taken care of
  8. The halfords ratchet with the grazed handle, all metal are naff!!! So a halfords socket set with a decent ratchet will do just fine. Im a mechanic and rely on tools and snap on isnt just a shiny brand I assure you, their tools stand up to a lot more abuse and also work better as they fit better fact. If you have a ratchet thats lasted years then thats good but thats one out of thousands. Halfords cheap breaker bars I have had the knuckle snap off after couple months of use.
  9. Halfords sockets are on par with sealey which isnt bad but the ratchets are pretty poor, pay cheap and the ratchet will fail quick I have gonetheoigh 3 very quickly. Now the halfords pro range is near as dam it on par with snap on, quality is good, socket fit is good ect. I personally wouldnt buy a cheap set, I have a mix of snap on and lower brands and from time to time I have to pull out the snap ons to finish a job as they fit right which means everything.
  10. Doesnt a horn have its own fuse supply? The normally do on cars ect, maybe you have tried that already? Get your mulimeter or test light on the wiring to the horn to see if your geting power if not then start looking for obvious areas of chaffing or brittle wires as the wire may have broke inside insulation
  11. Complain and find another instructor. I have never heard of an instructor like this they are usuallyvery patient and helpful with some typical biker humoir thrown in
  12. Mcn bike show tomos in skeg at butlins
  13. Congrats. Yup get a bike and some miles under your belt and it will all fall into place nicely
  14. When the weather picks up I may head along to this
  15. Just do a cbt they will teach you what you need to know
  16. Check first before buying as there maybe restrictions on power weight output which some small bikes may exceed, but you on the right tracks wanting gears good lad and welcome
  17. Alpha rider training in grantham. Highly reccomended, excellent pass rate and ade was great when I did my course last year. They will even do a free trial to ee what length course you will need. Call and speak to maria. Welcome
  18. As long as you turn up and dont kill yourself you will pass so just have fun and take in all they say. Dont be afraid to ask questions too they will only teach u the basics so anythin extra you get from them is a bonus
  19. Your better off reading bloggs and watching vlogs of usually instructors riding round giving tips on advanced tips ect. Road condition is biggest factor when cornering. And cornering vids are badly explained and usually incorrect or potentially dangerous tips. Find a twisty road you know and keepgoing along it gradually getting faster and you will find your confidence. Im guessing thus is why your looking for cornering videos, if not then ignore me im rambling
  20. in a word..... no. if you have a basic undestanding of how to ride a bike your halfway there as your not too cock sure of yourself. as long as you listen and work on what your instructor points out then u will be fine. the main difference you will notice is that the bike will be bigger than when you did your cbt, this is a double edged sword, because as pointed out its easier to manouver once you get the hang of it but there is a LOT more clutch work than on the baby 125's and they are not as light so throwing them around will take some getting used to. watch the videos but dont listen to the scare stories about the swerve test, there is ample room to swerve and build up speed, admittedly its easier to build the speed on the A licence as you just stay in 2nd gear but on the A2 bikes they get you to shift gear as you exit the corner. you will be fine and good luck
  21. Build a bigger garage nice bike that
  22. Good luck. You get more than enough time so go through the intro dont skip it and give ur self time to relax
  23. My award goes to the idiot in the massey ferg van today. I was on a 40mph road following a car soing 30, 2 lanes im in second. The car im following filters into the right lane to turn right so I speed up to 40 and as I wind.on the throttke the van pukls in front of me and pootles at 35, nob!!!!!
  24. A helmet would likely not have saved him if he hit a tree at any kind of speed.. No i very much doubt a helmet woukd have saved him but how many people may die when they spill their bike on a low speed corner or round about because their head hits the floor?
  25. Im amazed at what im reading...... people actually would ride without a helmet given half the chance........ As already mentioned all helmets have to comply with eu legislation so therefore are safe enough. Protective clothing doesnt stop you breaking bones, abrasion protection is the aim, yes there is padding and armour to minimise damage, only helmets actually do a good job at savibg your life, you can die feom falling over in the street and bumping ur head, so a helmet helps with this. I have witnessed the result of a friend riding without a helmet, he didnt survive the impact with the tree and burnt into the back of my mimd is his crushed head, I was physically sick. This just reinforces what someone else said that others can be affected too.
