  1. Hello ppl. I don't know what is wrong here but i have been told, just b4 i do a compression test to drop a bit of oil in the cylinder head. When i done this i got a reading of around 129 compression. But when i do it normally i get around 105. What could be the problem here? As sometimes when i do the test i get 120 plus when cold but when hot i get 105. Is everything right here?
  2. Is thi right? Round about 120 pressure in the engine of should the rs 125 have more when the top end is replaced? I'm going to go for another pin in a min when the engine has fully cooled then do another compreion test. Hope it goes even higher I can feel the egine will pull a mile better then when i had it before this rebuild. sO FAR SO GOOD Just got back in, can definatly tell there is more power evenn though i didn't go ove 7000 rpm, mainly run between 4-5000 rpm. Got n, done compressio test and it read 100 again???? This was when it was red hot mind u 88 it was when stopped, tried again when it was 71, n it went to 110. Tried a few secs later, back to 100??? Wtf?? 118 it was before. Any ideas plz?
  3. thats not nessesarily low. check the figure with your manual. do you know what it's supposed to be? one further test you can do is to squirt oil into the cylinder your testing. re do the compresion test. if that increases the reading significantly, then your cylinder bores are worn (you'll need a rebore with new pitons and rings) After running it in a little,still need running in more, the compression has gone upto 118 So will go a bit higher no doub't. Seems to be ok now

  5. Finnally done it all but i think i had a wee prob. I done another compression test and i am getting 100-105 pressure I know after what i have done it should read higher?What could it be? Will it just need running in?
  6. Ok, thanks for helping all. The bike is all done minus the worst part of all. THE EXHAUST SPRINGS..... Man i seriously hate this bit. Is there an easy way to do this? Any1 please help
  7. I've another question now, the bar that goes across the frame and at the side of the engine. Which way does this go? And As there is 2 screws on it, what does it hold on?

  9. Cheers mate. It is from the power valve. There is 1 in there that looks gunked up. Will it be ok to leave the one that is in there now? Or is it best if i replace it?
  10. t has a small green roundish plastic thing in it. With a spring ring going round it at the top and a solid ring near the bottom. What is it? Do i need to use this on anything or replace it ?   11. I just got a phone call from the stan stephen guy who was supposed to straight swap my aprilia cylinder with another one. Well he rang back saying he has no aprilia cylinders but he has another one which is not an aprilia cylinder and he can do it for me for 50 quid? Am i smellying a rat here? Is it worth it? Am i getting had here? He f*cks off at 1 sdo need replys asap plz All sorted. Rang him up and he said it is off an aprilia rs 125 2007, the cylinder has had 50 or so miles on it that is why he is giving it me cheaper. So i am happy with this. I asked him why the condition of it seeing how it has a few miles on it and he said it is perfect as if it it has just be fixed. So i am taking his word on it. He even said he would not do anything wrong as he has been in the business for over 40 years and to do this over 77 quid is hardly worth it, so i am happy. He even gave me the cylinder part number so proves it is genuine, anyway will look at it when it comes, sshould be here tomoz. And got it for 77 quid which is half price really, so happy really.
  12. Yep that is where i 1st posted my stuff, just needed different opinions that is all, as we all know, there are some damn cowboys about these days giving bad advice to newcomers like myself. Anyway. I just rang up http://www.pjme.co.uk/ and they quoted me for getting my cylinder resleaved alone at 12198. Isn't there any cheaper places to try? As i already have a vortex piston,gaskets ,rings,conrod bearing etx etx ready for fitting? Any links would be great people thanks Pjme are wollowing in there success atm i think as they seem the most expensive of the 1s i know of. I've a few left to ring tomoz but need more just to get the cheapest 1s

  14. Hi all. I did not bother with the gasket gunk and just stayed with the gasket set i got from pjprime. After taking the top end off and getting to the piston and cylinder. There was 1 fairly big score in the cylinder Heres the pics. http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/9108/dsc00603x.jpg http://img133.imageshack.us/img133/1772/dsc00604.jpg In the 1st pic, it is the 1st looking score that is the score, the others are water. How much to resleave it? Or will i need an new cylinder? And when i checked the conrod, i moved it left to right and it moved say 1-2 mm most. I tried moving it up and down and it did not budge. Does this mean the bottom end is fine? Thanks And it is an 2003 aprilia my bike m8.
  15. Just a quiclk question before i start. Do i need gasket gunk for when i put the gaskets on? I didn't get none when they sent it out. Should i buy some? Thanks

  17. I forgot to mention. I got this cleaning spray stuff from va bike shop yesterday where it said wet the bike 1st so i used an hose pipe to damp the bike and then put the sollution on then cleaned it off with an hose pipe again. Could getting water all over it be causeing this? When it happened i smelt something burning sort of and the bike was very hot. Could the water when i cleaned it? If so what part of my bike would it of affected?
  18. Hi all. Well, I've had this new rs 125 bike for 2 days. Went for a spin this morning and suddenly it cut out. Pulled over, after about 5 mins it restarted, got going again and it done it again, I'm like ffs, as you could imagine. It done it another 2 times before gladly i got home. To get it restarted i had to purt the choke on, even though it was fully warmed up like 60 before i set off. Got home and went for a spin round the block, it done it again, so i put it on reserve and it fired straight up. Could it simply be a fuel problem, like a bit of crap stuck in the tank blocking the fuel from getting around? As in reserve it seems fine. Hope someone can help me out? Thanks
  19. Hi all My bro had an aprilia supersport rs 125cc 95 model years ago, and he still has some engine oil that he used in that bike in the shed. I have no engine oil for my aprilia rs 2000 model but will it be ok to use this engine oil in my 2000 rs model bike? Thanks , as he used it in a 95 model rs 125.

    Hi all 1st post in a while. Anyway last week me dang engine on me rs 125 blew So I've recently dropped the engine out of me bike and had a look for myself. When I've been looking at it I took the cylinder head off and it looked like this... http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/3286/dsc00184yy0.jpg[/i] So I've recently cleaned it up and all isd nice and smooth again. Now i get to the piston itself and it's chomped up to say the least... http://img355.imageshack.us/img355/1716/dsc00143mm5.jpg And this.... http://img292.imageshack.us/img292/8587/dsc00144ve1.jpg So I'm about to order a new piston head and rings but as i took it off i had a look at the conrod and It's really wobbly, like nearly an inch left and right and i could also push it down a little bit. Now i need to know what i have to do to renew the bearing for the conrod? Any ideas please, as I'll need to splitt the engine to get to it Beginners look very much needed.   23. Hi mate. At 1st when it started happening, it started after say 6 seconds when in 2nd gear but know it starts straight after i put it in 2nd. it starts when i put it in 2nd but when i get to 8000 revs it stops. It's an Aprilia rs extrema 125 bike. There's the prob i haven't a clue what im doing
  24. Hello all For a while now, when i'm riding me motor ,the second i put it into 2nd gear theres a horrible noise but no power lose or anything? It only happens in 2nd gear, sort of a buzzing noise. Any ideas what it could be? Thanks

Seriously getting on me titties this bike now I've just tried to tighten my chain with me old man, but the nuts what you use to measure the chain distance out has seized So we tried yanking it and now the bolt has completely snapped off, so one side of the wheel won't be balanced out now Any ideas on what i will need to do to get the old thread bolt that snapped out? And how do i renew it? Thanks.
