  1. Good Luck Steve!
  2. To me, this doesn't seem to be a good combination. If you're an experienced rider, I'd say it would be better to have your wife ride pillion for safety and peace of mind sake. Also, if your wife isn't experienced she may feel riding amongst SE Asia road craziness more of an ordeal rather than an enjoyable experience. This won't be good for your peace of mind also as you'd be worrying about your wife most the time. You + wife as pillion may well be a better option.
  3. I've just read through the whole thread. Very intereting, especially as it initially looked like you would eventually be getting the bike on the road. Bummer to read how it ended up...... and especially as the owner doesn't seem to give a toss about the bike but he doesn't want anyone else to have either. I guess it's a case of if something seems too good to be true (finding the abandoned bike and getting on the road for yourself) then it usually is too good to be true. I feel for you, absolutely gutting end to the saga.
  4. Thanks for the reply and I've got to say, from what guys are saying, custom earplugs do seem to be good bits of kit. Regarding the bold, I think at this stage, 2025, I'll go for newer units (ie bluetooth 5.2 and supported softwear updates etc.) But thanks for the offer. Cheers!
  5. Many thanks for the replies, all very useful. Regarding the 4X, I've read quite a few people say that the position of the volume wheel often means that it can rub on jacket collars changing the volume up / down as the rider moves their head left or right. That what made me consider the Edge. I'll try the standard speakers and see how I fair, but I'll keep the suggestion of custom earplugs in mind. So thanks for that suggestion too!
  6. Thanks for the reply, very useful Simon. Much appreciated! Regarding the voice commands, how do they work with a phone? Is it that a phone and / or sat nav needs to be paired via bluetooth and the Cardo unit will instruct Siri (or similar) to make the changes requested ie volume up / down etc? Thanks.
  7. I'm looking to buy a bike intercom and after doing quite a bit of research I've decided to go with Cardo. My useage will be:- 1) I need to be able to speak with my wife (pillion). 2) Need to connect to my sat nav at the same time as being connected to my wife 3) Needs to be 100% waterproof 4) Needs to have good quality sound when wife and I are talking 5) No need for connection to other riders. I've looking at the Cardo 4X but have read a few people experience connection drop-outs with the 4X, which would bug me so I've also been looking at the Cardo Edge (which will be overkill for my needs, but worth it if the connection is 100% stable ie Mesh / DMC connection I'm seeking owner opinions / experiences of using the 4x and Edge units. Cheers!
  8. Nice scooter!! Worth quite a bit now...... My first was a 1965 Lambretta J125 I wasn't old enough to ride it on the road at 15yo in 1980, so went round and round my Dad's field. First 'on the road' scooter was a 1973 Vespa 90 SS which I passed my test on......... first bike was 600 Bandit in 1998
  9. I had a similar problem when riding my Triumph Speedmaster (865). It was an easy enough job to do. Here's a thread I posted on another forum three years ago. https://www.thetriumphforum.com/threads/swapped-stock-2005-risers-for-newer-model-risers.5427/
  10. Sounds like you're doing all the right tings!! Enjoy!
  11. Good luck, Enjoy your new ride. Just take it easy until you get a good feel of the bike. The weather's certainly on your side.
  12. +1 Same here. I've had it a few years now. Very easy to use.... (BTW, that's not me in the vid, I just grabbed it off YT) ">
  13. 719 miles round trip on a scooter. I take it you left on Monday and only got back home today? No, approximately 9 to 10 hours each way, with stops etc. Rode down on the Friday and back up to Durham on the Sunday.
  14. I was in Tenby last weekend too! Went for the scooter rally. I didn't go on my Triumph, I rode down from Durham on my scooter...... 719 miles round trip .... It was a good rally and great weather made it all the better.
  15. post #607 Some great looking scooters in that video!! Here's what I've been listening to recently Shocking Blue singing California Here I Come ...... and of course, the gorgeous lead singer, Mariska Veres https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOKGUWjHWHA
