  1. Great photo, I love the usa police look on this. There is a guy near me has a newer Honda who has his badged up with all the checker graffics and all except the actual police text and has a white helmet and a "polite" vest, he even refers to it as his "police" bike :crybaby:

  2. Hoe do you store your bike gear, jacket, helmet boots etc? So far I have managed to stuff it in a cupboard but the more I add to my kit the more of a problem its getting.

    Honda in grangemouth have a smart metal rack type think like a man made of metal which is a good idea and I have seen a shelf type thing with hangers under it which I could buy. Wondered if anyone had bought or made anything for the job?

  3. Yeah, passed on Friday with 1 minor, rushed home and got the insurance sorted, ran to get my kit on, rushed out to the garage, pushed the cbr out and pressed the button in anticipation of my first ride with no l plates and the battery was flat :crybaby:


    Didn't have time to charge before work so finally got the battery charged today and had my first ride in the rain and loved every minute :cheers:

  4. Due to days off being cancelled at work I ended up having to move my mod2 date twice and done it yesterday. I failed on totting up 4 minors for going to slow in the 30 zones :crybaby:


    Ive never done this in my lessons before so no idea why I was going slower, I can only assume I was over compensating for the rain which had stopped but I felt the roads were still damp.


    Oh well hopefully next time, the new bike has not turned a wheel yet :crybaby:

    As for the noise, is it a standard pipe?

    is it blowing? 125's are not usually that noisy.

    As far as I can see it's a standard pipe, it has suzuki on it. Got myself a manual so I'm going to try and keen how to service it myself, the garage quoted £80 but parts can't be that expensive surely?


    I know I need oil, an oil filter, spark plug but is there anything else I should do?

  7. How long are you leaving it till you close the choke?


    My Thundercat also shuts off if I close the choke too soon. It normally gets 5 to 10 mins warm up on full choke before I ride off. After another half a mile to a mile from leaving, I shut the choke then and it stays going.


    If it shuts off if you close the choke regardless of how warm, it may have an idle set to low.

     

    I've tried it at all different times, even after a 20 run it will cut out

  8. My first bike is a suzuki gn125 2004. I Got it for a good price but there are a few niggles:


    The bike is hard to get into neutral, I have to click up and down the gears before I can get it, the seller of the bike did tell me about this before I bought the bike.


    It's REALLY noisey, at night I'm sure it rattles windows, I keep trying to put it in a high gear to keep the revs low


    When I start the bike I open the choke but once the bike is warm I close the choke and the bike stalls, even after being driven


    I know the bike had a new chain and battery last year and the seller said she changed the fuel filter but it's not been religiously serviced.


    Any advice would be great fully received.


    I'm thinking of buying a 2011 honda cbf to replace it as I've heard these are nice and quiet which I need if I'm going to use it to commute as I work shifts and my neighbours will kill me if I come in at 4am with the gn125

  9. Went out for a ride today, not having been out for a week and felt quite nervous but was ok once I got going. About half anhour later the bike started spluttering, fearing the slits I thought I had broken it, I could hear fuel moving in the tank so convinced myself I had broken it an started pushing it home, thankfully not far then I checked the tank again and realised that's what the problem was :oops:


    Went to the garage with a can and filled up and she purred back to life, went upto the shop where I done my cbt to say hello and the lovely cbt man checked the bike over for me, the rear tyre needed air so that was filled and a general check, he said I got a good buy with it so gat was reassuring.


    The cbt staff are lovely, sat for a good half hour chatting and getting tips


    Also booked it in for a service as the last owner hadn't done the oil or plug.


    By the time I left for home I hit rush hour which was good for practice stop starting.


    All in all I really enjoyed today and I'm looking forward to taking the bike to work tomorrow if it's dry :)
