  1. I checked this out with a couple big bikers and my old man, no insurance etc i never new, always seeing youngsters walking there cbt bikes, didn't think i was doing any wrong, i was stopped many year ago pushing a brand new Chinese chonky bike with no reg they did checks and then it come find and send me on my way. I havant booked it yet, waiting for the car to remove from the property, ill ring up js gedge or hastings motorcycle see of thry can collect, and what it will cost, if its a silly amount i will just get the old man to go on the insurance and ride it to and from the mot centre.
  2. Push it But that is actually a good question. 10 min walk from me lucky enough i picked the one nearest to me, up a small hill then down a long hill. and then repeat the steps in reverse .... or my old man said if it goes though a MOT if its okay with me to put insurance on it and he will use it as and when... that's one way i don't mind the walk/push
  3. Very true! I am going to book it in next week for MOT i am actually quite excited! Once i sell this sort my das out, i have test rode a fzr400 also had a quote for 679 third fire and theft. So happy days! Thank you for all the help and guidance on this project i have learnt a lot on this project. Over come the fear of working on bigger bikes.
  4. Yay!! I got the car almost finished yesterday but sold it in the process then i had a couple hours to spare..... http://i1156.photobucket.com/albums/p562/classickid21/kawasaki%20er5%20a3%201999%20project/266DDA17-40D3-43B3-A095-3FBE606D857D_zpsyby6qxe6.jpg Still a tiny bit of play the bearing was shot! The rear wheel bearings was smooth no notches no reason to replace so i have not replace them yet. I will having it back apart because there was a spacer that looks to be damaged might be effecting the play. I need to re adjust the rear brake! Sort the choke out on the hand lever, because won't run on choke unless i stand holding it. Bike won't idle wen its cold.. Fuel temp gauge i don't think works ? I put 5 litres in didnt budge on the gauge? Hagon shocks i can push down and it slowly rises but if i put my hands round the base of the number plate holder and push down and slowly pull up it goes pong and feel some play Bushings maybe or swing arm ? Further inspection later today, going to book mot for 28th

  6. Much appreciated! I live in Plymouth so quite far if your in Sussex. I'm gonna have a go at this myself I need to get some tools and a garage sorted and have a crack asap Too many miles away, other wise between me and you we would get it done rather quickly. But miles and miles away, as for tools torq sockets from bnq come on a metal rail A+++ Not as good as snap on but i have been using the same sockets for 3 years nearly every day, can't fault them.
  7. Hello 1st thing where are you located ? i am off the road at the moment but if you aren't too many miles away i don't mind popping down to give you hand with some of the items. its all helps Rear tyre tread low ---- Legal limit on a MOT is 1mm Excessive clutch play ---- try adjusting the cable or lever. Notchy headrace (minimal) ---- will come up as a Advisory but its is an issue that can be sorted after a couple hours of dismantling Front wheel bearing rough, front wheel spacer fitted wrong way------remove the wheel clean the bearings, should have Rs or Ms on the bearing copy the number look online various shops usually cost pennies to sort. and once the wheel is of 30-45 min job some times less. Front pads low, front + rear discs worn----pads various Try wemoto online quite reasonable Disc's worth buying new Chain and sprockets worn (really bad) ----- various place from £45-150 just shop around Revs rise on full lock right -- snagged cable reroot the throttle cable (will come up on MOT) I am on a serious budget so I asked which of these things he recommended getting ASAP. Fitted price Chain and sprockets £154 ---- found on EBAY £50 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-GS-500 ... Sw3ydVpRT- Rear tyre £110 -- 110 its not wide but its affordable £47 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-GS-500 ... SwuTxV-B-N Front pads £50---- from £7- brembo £35 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-GS-500 ... XQlgtS5oOw Front wheel bearings £50--- various from Pdi £5-10 or Koyo bearings £15.69 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-GS500- ... lVyPL1E5ew Here is a couple examples there cheap might find things cheaper browsing google, or buy two wheels fit the bearings and tyres and the disc's then when your ready fit them to the bike.
