  1. I was lucky and my bike was still under warranty, so Honda paid. I did get a copy of the invoice which listed the cost at about £275 if I remember rightly. The advice is that if you do get a new pump, to fit an in-line fuel filter to protect it from recurring.

Ouch, yeah that was lucky, well I use my bike everyday, love using it so, small price to pay I guess, I'll be phoning my local Honda shop tomorrow.

  2. The same happened to my 2014 CBF125 earlier is year. I'm afraid that the solution was a new fuel pump fitted by Honda. This is a fairly common problem it seems, potentially linked to a tank inner coating that gets into the pump filter (which can't be replaced separately..). I caught mine on video so you can check if your symptoms match mine:

There is also a lot of info on the following blog that I found useful at the time:

Yep that's exactly it. If you don't mind me asking how much did it cost you to get it fixed?

  3. Hi.

I have had this happened twice now.

    Honda cbf 125

    Scenario is:

Sat in a long que, (Not comfortable filtering yet) bike is working it's little a** off about 5-10 mins down the road this is now at normal road speeds 30-40 mph the bike starts losing power, i ease of the throttle bike then decides to gain power jolting my forward, then loses power then gains power and it does this until I pull over or the bike just cuts out.

whist losing and gaining power when adding more throttle the engine makes a popping noise instead of the normal sound it tends to make.

The current fix seems to be turning the bike off and leaving it for 5-10 minuets. then it seems to run fine.

but it's frankly scary when your going 40 mph car up your back side and you lose all power and start to rapidly slow down.

has anyone had this issue with a Honda CBF 125 *10 plate or know of this issue?

P.s almost forgot it cuts out when in Neutral too.

  4. My little 125 hates the wind, but I find gripping the tank with my thighs and relaxing my shoulders helps dealing with it a lot better.

If the forecast is for consistent winds stronger than 30mph I'll tend not to take the wee bike out.

Gusts of 35-40mph I can deal with by taking more sheltered roads, and just generally watching and planning for them.

Thanks, Most the roads I like to go out on for a ride are along the cost where the wind tends to be stronger due to the lack of shelter, the other day I cut the ride short and went home, just didn't feel comfortable riding in it. seemed to be blowing the bike a lot of course I try to ride sort of the middle of the lane but I was getting pushed into on coming traffic and was like " f**k this"

  5. And no not the type that comes out of your back end

Last two days have been really windy went out for a ride yesterday and my little 125 was getting blown all over the place, is there a limit to the wind speed you will ride in?

Any tips for riding in strong winds? I found the wind kept catching the back end of the bike making the bike feel really unstable. Almost as if the bike was going to slide out from underneath me.

  6. Hey. So excited got my Theory booked for the 10th, I'm trying to practice as much as possible (doing online tests is that enough?)

After that it's my a2 but as excited as I am I feel it could be too soon? only really been riding for 2-3 weeks and threes a lot im still unsure off. On the road I can do just enough to get me by. Part for the a2 is a ride from Folkestone to herne Bay my furthist ride so far has been Folkestone to Hythe 5-6 miles at most. what can I do to better prepare my self?

First, you need to understand that any training undertaken before a compulsory test is all about how to pass that test & NOT about how to ride a motorcycle.

Second, you need to understand that your level of exciteability is statistically linked to your life expectantcy. The more 'excited' you are about passing this test then the more likely you are to be dead next weekend.

Third, you should sit down & really think hard about why you want to pass this test. If there's still a lot that you unsure of then I feel you are far from ready.

Well aren't you a barrel of fun... You managed to give a reply totally out of topic of the kind of reply I was looking for. None of what you said was actually help full and a lot of people get excited for three mod 1 and 2.

  8. And that's what happened to me when I came off. Wasen't exactly a sharp corner it was my 1st corner at about 50mph probably slightly to fast for the corner. and I panicked. Instead of counter steering I tried to brake as much as possible to try and slow me down because i had made up my mind that i had no way to recover from this so to just try and slow down as much as possible or stop. I feel if i had counter steered and leaned more into the turn I probably would have made it round. been a bit shocken up after but would have been okay.

Still trying to work out what gear for what corner I never seem to go above 3rd gear

  9. Thanks guys I'm back to riding my bike to and from work again now and I have re-gained a lot of my confidence today.

I'm finding a few things a lot easier with the "counter" steering method. turns that you can easily get round at about 30-40mph i was finding my self slowing right down to take them, Yeah i may have felt safe when going round the corner but it was just an accident waiting to happen. but with counter steering I get round them fine. I am trying to make it so counter steering is both a reflex thing and something i will do when i think about it too. lane control just most control when moving is easier with counter steering.

it's one of those until your on the bike and try it, it doesn't make much sense.Once you have tried it your like oh i understand now lol.

  10. Thanks guys. I played around with this on the way home from my MOT. I found getting into the correct road position and turning easier when doing this. the corners I was slowing right down for I found easier to get round faster. I'm not going to get too cocky with it. I'm still going to take things slow and safe.

But I defiantly felt the effects of it my self out on the bike today. and they do defiantly help.

I just have one question. a few people say you can counter steer though the whole turn. some people say you only do it to get into the turn? or is it one of those where you can actually do both?

  11. Yes I probably have opened a can of worms. :P

two more videos I just watched.

From what I see from the 1st video above is you don't use countersteering for the whole turn? you use it to just get into the turn? all very confusing. I find it difficult to comprehend the bike will turn a different way to the way the front tier is pointing.

  12. So as some of you know I came of my bike broke my wrist in 3 places and couldn't work I ended up having surgery on my arm and had 7 weeks off. During that time a manager done something to his foot his was sports related and had 3 weeks off we both came back today.

Whist doing my return to work the store manager turns round and says I do have to warn you that you put a lot of stress on the team by coming off your bike when it could have been avoided and that you was just going to fast and (I was doing the speed limit) was just being careless and a bit reckless. and members of staff had to do extra shifts and it caused a lot of stress just because you was careless then to top it of we had frank off with his leg which was sports related which well was sports related.

so what he just said there was the other guys foot couldn't be avoided and he said nothing like this to the other guy apart from he told him that he had this chat with me as the other guy is a assistant manager. I just went with it. He said that he doesn't think biking is for me and that I shouldn't get back on the bike etc

I spoke to the members of staff that covered my shifts and they where happy for the extra hours.

But he was basically blaming me for coming off the bike and that it was avoidable. Trust me if I could have avoided coming off and braking my wrist in 3 places then I would have. he then spends the better part of the day tearing apart the work I do. Trying to change my method of doing things that i've been doing for the past year. Then the icing on the cake was we was facing up and he basically tells me i'm doing a bad job at that then mentions how a 10kg bag needs to be moved over there and walks off knowing full well I can't lift it. I have now lost all respect and trust in my store manager. if I didn't need the job I would leave.

in all a really cr*p day at work. I don't know if I can report him for this or what.

  13. Hey Everyone.

1st of all I would like to thank everyone who has posted about their CBT experience really helped me to expect what was coming.

So It was raining only lightly but enough to make me think great. Got to remember I've never driven a car or bike in my life on the road til today.

So I set off for channel riders.

So got their at 8:45, it was me and other other person. both pretty much newbies at it.

had a bit of a talk about the bikes, the law etc. and then had a look around a bike. done the checks you would do daily etc.

Then it was out into the court yard was a fair size, nothing to big nothing to small. done all your basics going, starting, changing gears, emergency stop, u Turn, figure of 8 (i sucked at it for some reason i could just not do figure of 8s lol)

So after that it was a quick brake, onto the high way code then out on the bike!

At this point It was daunting, I was out of my comfort zone 1st time on the road, everything was new, 1st time really doing them sort of speeds 20-30MPH.

So turning still something i need to get used to lol. But in all I did well apart from when I was on a hill trying to do a right hand turn some how messed it up and ended up under the bike! the instructor said at this point he should really stop the CBT, But 1st thing I said when I got up was i'm alright I want to continue.

I went their this morning expecting to fall off. I knew it would happen. just glad it wasn't a bad one lol

Picture of my leg (Now that i've fallen of I really must be part of the motorbike crew lol)(IGNORE the state of the room lol)

In all I had fun and would recommend Channel riders to anyone in the South East area!
