I'm trying to come up with some rules for a Risk drinking game, should be a great laugh. Spirits themed by country or continent, of course When I was in training for going to sea we used to play risk just about every night, never needed a game to go with Risk just played it and drank at the same time, it got interesting when you had a lot of people that played a lot playing the game they went on for hours and got more interesting the more alcohol was consumed.

Yeah i just got bored as it was so repetitive. ooo those both look interesting, no point in getting them though as i say no one to play with and not masses of time. mass effect risk will have to have a look for that as well, wow i must be getting really old dont know about any of the new stuff or at least out of touch. cheers

By definition a captive market is one where the consumer has little or no other choice. Apple once had a captive market in professional designers, photographers, cinematographers, etc, but as I said in my post their competitors can now offer just us much. More, if we compare things by price. As that transition has taken place they've remarketed themselves exceptionally well and done a great job of expanding the range of products and services they provide in order to become a consumer electronics powerhouse instead of a specialist niche brand, but the brand loyalty that they have achieved is a very different beast to a captive market. A captive market is something that in theory you have to do very little to maintain; they need your product and have no viable alternative, so you can count on their business and all you really have to do is convince them to buy your more expensive products instead of the cheaper ones. Brand loyalty requires work to generate, and continued work to maintain. That's what Apple have done so well, they drum up excitement and desirability like nobody else can, and as you noted, they sell a lifestyle as well as a product range. Agreed, I think it will be interesting to see if they can continue following the passing of SJ, as when they kicked him out first time they lost their identity and he had to come back and right the ship.

Wow ive only seen the WWII version. Russia are a tough nut to play, its basically defend like mad, it does depend on which way germany go though as well. Pic would be good sounds huge. As for MMO's WOW was the main one for me, i get bored of the repitive nature though.

You and me are going to get on! I am an Automotive Engineer technically, but while working with Triumph I found I had a bit of a passion for databases, ERPs and KBE. Basically putting things in their right bloody boxes so that engineers aren't doing the same useless tasks, day after day, which only duplicates documentation and creates more problems all round! Now that I'm out of Uni I'm getting really into SQL, C++ etc.. Quality Engineering too but I guess that all gets rolled into the same bundle in the end. My cupboard with my current flatmate is FULL of games like axis and allies (Have you played their Japanese feudal one? So good!). Variants of Risk, Munchkin, WoW Monopoly and yes, me and friends meet on Skype to DnD once a week if we can Yes i think we will get on quite well. Im not an expert coder by any means but understand SQL, C based languages and can read most languages. if you need any help with them i am more than happy to take a look if i can help. the skype idea sounds good. Ive not seen the japanese fuedal one, ill have a look around for it. Its good to know its not just me that likes good old fashioned RPG and board games. Forgot to add be careful who you tell you have a passion for databases and data in its right place etc... a lot of people will not take it like us IT geeks. in a lot of places it roles into one in others they are all very seperate. Also working at Triumph nice, sounds very interesting.

Im curious have you installed windows on it then? Or are you working on a none windows network? Or maybe i should ask what are you calling serious IT work? These are serious questions by the way im curious?

LOL, guess ERP it will be at some point then, we can talk about how many extra resources the big ones need and how much of a problem they cause when people start putting their own spin on them and then the people that wrote them refuse to suppor them since they have been changed so much from the original, and how businesses have to change their processes to suit the software rather than the other way round. but yeah well up for a chat on the topic I take it your in IT as well then tsurgi-irjin? As for games, I love proper strategy games cant seem to find any decent ones though these days, used to MMORPG alot but life started getting in the way, i used to play a lot of sports as well, as i say im pretty much FM these days, oh and i used to love the rainbow series and forza was quite good at both on the XBOX. im on steam, if anyone can find a good strategy game then let me know, also own a copy of Axis and Allies board game and I wont gointo the roleplaying i used to do no not that sort all you perv's I'm a D&D fan also Axis and allies is awesome fun still have a copy in the loft. As for strategy games, Age of empires 2 has a HD remake and expansion on steam for about £5 and you have the total war series, Notably Rome 2, Shogun 2. Also check out rainbow six siege open beta starts tomorrow on ps and i think xbox It was AD&D for me mainly, although did play a few others as well, loved it also did live as well for a short time. Axis and Allies is great, have you seen you can now get a super sized to games to put together for it, the pacific and europe two seperate maps both bigger than the orginal one and they fit together as well. looks awesome only problem is finding anyone interested in playing and that has the time these days. as i say unfortunatley not much time for gaming these days, and yes those games are ok, however the one that really sticks in my mind as a great game from when i was a kid was Gettysburg it was awesome, but they dont do strategy games like that anymore. ah well.

Cool, I'd be up for giving it a go! I'm a bit of a hardcore survivalist, on my old server they used to get me to build our spawn area every time we started a new map because I'd get a bit obsessive with my fences and torches and farms and pistons Yeah, I saw a video of it, looks awesome. If the gravity works well then the first thing I'm building is a bike Also had a conversation with my mate about using some of his little automated mining drones to try and cut a planet in half to see what happens... Fixed your mistake for you although they are getting better these days as all round PC's rather than design, video and audio editers. although they are still overpriced compared to standard PC. They have to, they don't have a captive market any more! Used to be a whole stack of reasons that you had little choice but to use a Mac, now there is less and less proprietary stuff giving them an advantage and you can spec a PC that's much better at running Adobe stuff for a fraction of the cost. When our last head of marketing started she asked if I needed a Mac to work on instead, I couldn't say "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" quickly enough Convinced her to sink some of the money on a nice new Eizo instead Yes they do, although their fan base seems to be growing and getting more obsesive, this on the part of applie getting people to believe your not buying a PC/Phone but a way of life is genius

But graaaaaaaphics haha, PS+ is nice, good free games every month. Plus the share videos thing is real nice. To be fair, I havent used a PS since PS2 so they may have improved, only gaming I get up to these days is FM really and not much of that, joys of having a young family and working a lot of hours.

Who remembers the 3DO and all the next gen consoles that were going to blow the world away, and were pretty good just never managed to capture the market for some reason. wow there are some good memories out there. also XBOX all the way PS lost its way around PS2

LOL @ all, I had the new fancy Commodore when it came out the small one cant remember what it was called but think it came after the 64. I also had the spectrum 128 who remembers loading games from tape, with the weird screen with different colours in lines and the awful noise. Sounds like an ERP solution, that should be interesting for you, does your organisation have any experience with running ERP? I was involved in the pilot plant for a worldwide org running SAP now that was interesting. @Glorian that was a Bus network then, all the gear in a line with terminators on the last connection on each end. I have slipped in the last few years, we only have an orginal WII now set up on a projecter, however we have a two year old, so thinking an XBOX one will be on the shopping list in the next year or so.

yeah I suppose a different thread is best. We had lots of fun with Sage "honest", it was amazing the restrictions they put on it, due to the business we were in we had several different types of accounts set up for different people, we spoke to Sage about a load menu to load different ones Sage said it wasnt possible so one of our developers wrote one. Sage saw it and told him that wasnt possible his response was ive done it. as for LAN parties, not sure but you may be a bit younger than me from the sounds of it, yeah i remember taking a full CRT monitor desktop (not tower PC) and everything else to play games, just trying to remember the games we played, Doom, Quake, etc... we used to run ours on a BUS network as it was easier to setup at the time.

Corr a lot more skilled than me! Im just starting out. career change Learning the basics of server management and support. Currnetly assisting in setting up a new sage interface to speed up our buisness and data recording. Super fun stuff haha! LOL, worked with Sage in my early days, i was more infrastructure then, strange thing is im more a jack of all trades rather than a master of one, ive been in IT for about 15 years profesionally but was a talented hobyist for some time before that in the days of LAN parties. if you ever want to discuss anything IT related etc... give me a shout, if I can help out I will. Also best advice i can give is that google is your friend, especially once you learn how to use it.

yep, i noticed that the other day and meant to post. im pretty hands of these days though, although ive been involved in all aspects, what your speciality? I have done, servers, desktop, web development, linux, unix, windows, networks, now moved into strategy, leadership and management. not sure if thats a good thing or not though

How old are you? People love to film nowdays. Go to a concert, better film on my ipad so everyone can watch on facebook See someone get mugged, film and upload to instagram #societythesedays Having a poop? Better snapchat this. Old enough to remember mobile phones being released, and to remember Rabit phones before them anyone else remember Rabbit phones? I know, i know its just such a shame, people would rather film than help, but not only that people are getting so used to filming things these days they dont just stop to watch and make memories rather than films. You know the strange thing i work in IT, i have a Facebook account that i havent logged into for 10+ years, i have a twitter account that i dont use, etc. etc... I am not a fan of this i am going to put my entire life on the internet where everyone can get hold of it, and i certainly believe people should make memories a lot more. ah well, maybe i am just an old G&* but hey ho,

So just been out for the first time since i put the visor wax on my helmet, it rained, thanks mainly to being in sunny north wales where it rains more than the sun shines Well i have to say at first use i am very impressed, although i was aware of the rain and could see it on the road and in puddles etc, my visor was pretty much clear the hole time, previously when i have been out that amount of rain has meant i have needed to look through a visor that was covered in water droplets, now ok i cant go fast enough to clear the visor through speed and not sure i would want to in high winds and rain, but the nikwax cleared it all anyway.

Cock. Agreed, altough it does show what type of world we live in these days two points for us to consider. 1. what was the guy that caught it on film, filming anyway? 2. is it just me or did he continue to film after the incident rather than go to help Am i just getting old and cynical?

I never had the good fortune to meet the young man, but it sounds like he was a lovely, fun and friendly person. RIP, thoughts are with all those that new him.

Not sure if this is the right place or not mods feel free to move if required. So can anyone recomend a decent bike school in and around the chester, north wales area please? There are loads online, however i know very little about them and the prices are pretty much of a muchness. I did my CBT with a one man band in ellesmere port area, he was pretty good but has now gone on to be a tester. any info on the schools is much appreciated.
