I had to change the ignition on my Ninja and encountered the same bolts, to my disbelief they just cracked out with a torx key might not be as bad as they look.

Fit an alarm to the bike with a pager, I had one when I lived in Salford...saved my bike a few times Most alarms also have a negative trigger to connect micro switches for seat removal etc.

Like the bike I swapped the bars on a couple of bikes previously and got the parts here http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/ for extending the cables, they even had the multi-connectors that I needed.
