  1. Yes, I went on the B6047 .. I used to go to Brecon/Llandovery quite a bit - yesterdays ride was nearly just as good.
  2. Thanks Bianco2564, I was looking for something a bit more local. I spent a bit of time researching last night and did this route today. It was much better than I expected.
  3. I've just recently moved from Coventry from Swansea, and am looking for a decent circular ride around the Coventry area. Around 3-4 hours should be OK with a few decent stop offs on the way. Can anyone recommend routes or websites with routes? I did find this which looks pretty good (http://www.bestbikingroads.com/motorcycle-roads/motorbike-rides-in-united-kingdom-/west-midlands--___804.html). On the search for recommendations though.
  4. Thanks for the amazing advice all (Even the puppies). The plan is to check with the landlord if he would be willing to let me put a wall anchor in.. and then get an anchor and chain. Also, I have a wireless webcam which connects to my wifi and alerts me if the door's opened. It's pretty hard to hide the motorbike - most of the neighbours will hear me coming and going. Though I'll definitely keep an eye out for who's behind me when getting near my house now.
  5. I'm renting a house for 6 months and my bike will be kept in the garage while I'm here. The garage has got mains power and is within range of the house wifi. Can anyone recommend what I should do security wise? I'll have a brake lock fitted on the bike. I can't fit a floor anchor as it's not my house. I was thinking of getting a camera which would connect to the wifi and text/email me if any movement is detected. Though I don't know what I would do if this went off when I was in work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  6. Well done dalbyspook. All the best for the Mod 2 - check the posts on here for info about the routes around your test centre.
  7. Thanks for the advice guys. Arwen, I ordered those exact 2 items this morning. I'll provide an update once I get them.
  8. I've been using these for a while - they don't seem particularly good at stopping high speed wind noise, and at slow speeds I can't hear pretty much anything - voice, engine, other traffic. Admittedly they are very comfortable, and quite cheap. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0007XJOLG" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I was talking to someone a few months ago who said he has ones which only block lower frequencies, and which cost about £70. Anyone know what these are, and tried them? Also, any other recommendations would be appreciated.
  9. Just passed my Mod2 - getting a Honda CBR 650F 16 plate I've been thinking of getting a Brake Lock with Tamper Siren. Of course the priority is how secure it is - the siren is a nice to have. I've been looking on Amazon - all the locks on there have comments about being removed within seconds. Can anyone recommend a secure brake lock (ideally with siren)? Thanks
  10. Did my Mod1 yesterday at Swansea and had a perfect pass. The examiner was very good - he could tell I was nervous so he suggested just doing 1-2 circuits to warm up. I hadn't been on a bike since my lesson last Saturday. The test was slightly different from how I'd read up on it, details: Any moving off do 2 shoulder-checks Manual Handling 1. Ride into space between cones and stop. 2. Move the bike to the next garage. I pulled the bike out turning as well - it's easier if you rest it slightly on the front of your legs, and I held the rear bars. Push it forward and then turn 45degress near the end. Push it back into the space. Slalom/Figure of 8 Pull off in between the first two cones. Don't go too slow (as I did and nearly put my foot down). On the figure of 8 I didn't realise that you could go on the outside of the cone in the slalom. When the examiner instructs you to stop make sure you go over to him and stop facing directly straight for the next manoeuvre. Slow Driving Pretty easy - go slow and stop with the front wheel between the cones. U Turn Pretty easy again - should checks when you pull off, then one shoulder check as you turn. Controlled Stop A test ride and then stop with the front wheel between the cones. Emergency Stop You have to do over 50pkh (30mph) when passing the speed measuring device - I was doing 61. When the examiner raises his arm stop as fast as you can. My bike had ABS which makes this very easy. Locking the back wheel could potentially be a fail. Swerve Test Nothing to hard here - I did 53kph. And that was it. So glad I don't have to do that again. Mod2 in a few weeks. BTW - if you live near Swansea I would recommend SMART Motorycles for their training. The Mod1 training is done at the actual test centre - you can't get better than that..
