Have a look on Wemoto website they usually list alternatives.

    I have used Motobatt without problems on several bikes.

    Motobtt ones are slightly larger. Will the fit?

  2. Continuing my jacket discussion, is time to talk helmet.

    I have always used Sohei but they were always presents. Now I have to get my own, and I still want one and falls into budget, but I want to know if it is worth it.

    I was thinking on the GT-air or the NXR. What is your call on these two? Is it worth or should I consider other brands?

    I can always try them st the local store and get them online is its worth it. Any helmet online retailer at good price?

    I could also go for a shoei quest if that would be enough.

    Thanks.

  3. Just to play devils advocate, if your serious about a commuter suit...

    I would seriously consider one of these or similar...

    Although not the prettiest thing they are useful. I have a Spada all in one that is great when I am going on courses etc I can change out of biker gear in 2 minutes. Iused to do it every day at the station really handy...

    Hi one sea,

    Sorry for the delay, I have been in holidays without Internet.

    I'm not that keen on one pieces as sometimes I could want to wear on or the other. Thinking in the onset I posted, any tips?

    Also anyone else can give some feedback? Thanks

  4. Hi guys,

    As you know I'm getting a bike at the end of the month, so I was looking into gear.

    Could you give me your opinion in the following jackets for Scotland (Edinburgh-Dunfermline daily commute)?

    I was looking at this jacket and was wondering why the

    http://www.fc-moto.de/Scott-Distinct-1-Pro-GT-Jacket" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

    Which seems to be the older model, has a higher price than the

    http://www.fc-moto.de/Scott-Distinct-2-Pro-GT-Jacket" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

    Which is the current model scott has in their website.

    If the distinct 1 pro is better, the discount is even bigger so it would be quite a good buy

    The contender is the following which I Can get for around 320 at the store after the discount for buying a bike,

    http://www.fc-moto.de/Revit-Neptune-Gore-Tex-Jacket" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

    Is it a good enough jacket? From what I can see is not laminated gore tex, it just has a gore tex linen, would that be better than a waterproof RST? OR the above mentioned Scot laminated Gore tex?

    Any call between these 3?

  5. Curious to know what their reasoning for that is? I do it all the time - chain is in the bag in the seat.

    Is that your chain in a tail bag? or just a tail bag?

    Also is that a kriega?

    A bag fixed.. or strapped to the pillion seat is not the same as a tail pack. a tail pack is essentially a soft 'top box' and its normally fitted off the end of the pillion seat on its own little frame or the bikes own rack.. assuming it has one.

    a seat is designed to carry a heavy weight.. like a passenger. so a heavy chain is nothing. The important thing is the chain doesnt move. it must be securely held in place so there is no chance of it shifting as you go round a corner. for instance.

    a tail pack.. or top box. is something else entirely. these are not designed to carry heavy weights.. most have a maximum thats just a few Kilos. The main reason the maximum weight is so low is usually because the mounting hardware and mounting point just aren't strong enough.and/or a heavy weight at the very back of the bike might upset the handling. especially if this heavy weight were to shift as you go round a corner. This movement within the case can also produce extra stresses and strains on the mount and its conceivable that the case could break off. and go bouncing down the road. Top boxes arent suitable for transporting heavy chains. Tail packs.. even less so.

    Hi, thanks for all this info. I mean a pillion seat bag, I will have a top box, but that's for other stuff. I have already been told that it can be carried on the top box but it could get dangerous with all the shifting.

    Any way to fix it to the top box for when I carry my wife?

    Cheers,

  6. I bough mine Lontan pants from spanish site here: https://www.motocard.com/en/pants-2/dainese-lontan_fore_tex_nero_631.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

    Note although they accepts returns you need to pay for the extra shipping so carefull with sizing. I wear UK 42 formal pants. Lontan pants I have are size EU 56 which is UK 46 and aretight fit for me.

    These guys have good discounts too:

    None of the above. When it says having a waterproof Liner means that the outer textile which is on the outside of the liner will get soaked with water. Still it will be waterpoof, but heavy as hell and will need 1 day to dry after heavy rain ride.

    Look for textiles that say laminated/membrane Gore-tex only if you are serious about waterpoof textiles. You see the word liner is no good. Laminated Gore-Tex was called previously Gore-tex Pro. Now they just say membrane.

    Say Scott Distinct 1 Gore-Tex Jacket and Scott Distinct 1 Pro GT Pants.

    Or Dainese Stradon/Atlantik jackets.

    Dainese Lontan pants.

    Laminated Gore-tex is expensive. Look for sales. I bought Lontan pants for £200.

    -------------------------------------------------------

    It depends. For me is very important. I want to know the textile has been tested for tear and abrassion and the seams will not burst.

    Although EN 1621.1 is an armor standard which means the textile and the seams has not been tested.

    EN 13595 is the textile testing standard and it has 2 test levels, Level 1 and Level 2. Level 2 giving a higher level of protection.

    Ideally it must say EN 13595 Level 2 Approved. Not tested or certified :D

    Tested: Usually means that the manufacturer tested the garment sample or samples in their own facility to meet (possibly) certain standards. But the sample may not have been sent to a certified testing facility for the official testing procedures.

    Certified: Garment samples were tested at a certified testing facility and may have passed specific tests in one or more zones.

    Approved: To be "CE Approved", multiple samples of the garment must have been tested by a certified facility and certified to meet or exceed the relevant standards in all zones.

    Thanks for this.

    I´m quite set on the RST Paragon IV one right now, but will look into others, problem is price.

    Do you know any gore tex sale site?

    Cheers,

  8. Hi guys,

    Would you consider these RST jackets to be good quality to commute to work in Edinburgh?

    http://www.rst-store.co.uk/rst-tundra-ii-textile-jacket.html

    http://www.rst-store.co.uk/rst-paragon-iv-textile-jacket.html

    Or would I need to go for more expensive ones like these?

    http://www.rst-store.co.uk/rst-pro-series-paragon-v-textile-jacket.html

    Or would I need to look into even better ones?

    Ones last question is, would this one also be enough as it seems smaller to handle

  9. Hi all,

    As per my previous post, you will probably know that I´m looking to buy a new tracer in a not so nice city.

    I wanted to ask you more about how you guys carry a 16mm chain in the bike. I was aiming for a 1,5m or 2m 16 mm pragmasis protector.

    I know it can be on a tail bag or on the top box. any other ideas?

    If in the top box do you just just chuck it in or do you actually put it in something else something?

    I´m scared that if I just leave it on the top box it could destabilise the bike in a turn. How does it feel in a tail bag? any recommendation for tail bags.

    Cheers,
