minimum of 6 months waiting and quotes on average £1500 to £1800... I could learn to do it in 6 months and save £££. Good chap but way out of my price league, this is for your rich folk. Might just get it through its MOT for now and rewire in the winter myself! F**k me ! How does he justify that ? Sounds like there is an opening for a competitor . I know, £600 a day, not bad eh! I understand there is some work that goes into it but that's just robbery. Says he is booked up for 6 months.

This is essentialy what I would have to make. I would get confused on what crosses over what, what relays to what, what splices in to what... No formal electrical training. Going to sleep on it. http://i64.tinypic.com/2a5jgc5.jpg

Yes it's just the process itself, it's not as simple as some people say... with or without diagram. Lot's to consider.

TRacker and alarm in one?
thevoyager replied to thevoyager's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
Just ordered one of these I'll report back in the tried & tested section, intend to try it on both the bike & a caravan Just a little stumped by this.. "In general, any kind of motion or vibration drains the Key battery. While riding a motorcycle, the lowest energy consumption is observed when the Key is next to Monimoto. While the motorcycle is parked the lowest energy consumption is observed when the Key is outside of the range of the Monimoto. This suggests that carrying the Key with you at all times is not efficient, and that is true. However, we do not recommend leaving the Key next to your motorcycle either as that will leave the motorcycle unprotected." So best way to preserve battery is to leave the key near the tracker so it is in sleep mode? -
Yeah, there's a silly voice in my head saying give it a go... little worried if i do and it does not work i've totally screwed up my current one.

Hey, my bike is now complete, lokoing to get it in for MOT within the week, but the LOOM is bugging me.... We stripped it back and took loads of unused wires off, rebandaged it, then chopped some more, tucked some here, forced some here and you get the picture, now left with a load big chunk of a loom, it's ok, but feel it could be better... not confident it's water tight. I don't think I am confident enough to make a new on my own, I know I'd start it, think I was doing well then relaise I have made major mistakes... It's a fairly simple loom I think, if you know what you are doing. I found one company online who was looking to charge £900 / £1200 for a loom build, that seems overly expencive! Are there any more reasonable people/companies out there? How long should it take? 1 full day? Any reccomendations in the Yorkshire / Cheshire area? I have put a lot of effort into my bike, shame to ruin it by this.

TRACKERS - THE BEST ONE?
thevoyager replied to thevoyager's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
Only has a range of 150ft... Not to great really. You didn't bother reading that site did you... OK I have now.. So it works by using other people's phones who need the app, but not only that they need to have blue tooth turned on, not sure about you but I never freely leave blue tooth on for battery reasons.. Also I'd be sceptical about their claims of having sold ten million units or whatever ot was... Even that would not be good penetration to locate your bike or whatever, 150ft, if I could do the maths I would. Think I'll look for a more robust solution, thanks for the suggestion though. -

Sorry if this has been askked lots, but hey, security is important right.. Can we have some links of some of the best trackers you actual riders have used and swear by? It's like a minefield out there, bogus claims, accuracy of 100 meters (which is terrible)... What one do us bikers need? Ideally accuracy within 5 to 10 meters. GPS/GSM. In-built battery. Can be wired up to mains battery. Small-ish. Let's go.. I ant to buy a tracker by the end of the week. P.S - https://www.bennetts.co.uk/bikesocial/reviews/products/security/trackers/need-to-know-motorcycle-trackers https://www.expertmarket.co.uk/vehicle-tracking/motorbike-gps-trackers There is a distinction between regular vehicle trackers and motorbike trackers. Good starting point.

TRacker and alarm in one?
thevoyager replied to thevoyager's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
I can not for the life of me find this simple info... do most trackers have their own battery supply, as in hold a charge if the loom is cut say?? Also, are there any truly free services, most seem to state there is a monthly charge, even the cheaper ones in ebay.. ?? -
TRacker and alarm in one?

I have read that trackers do not work well when enclosed with metal, kind of defeats the object, I built a metal box specifically for security... Any ideas round this? -
TRacker and alarm in one?

Anyone heard of this company? Way over my budget but pretty cool how you don't need to connect it to a mains battery.. https://monimoto.co.uk/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIwMWV85vz2wIVLbHtCh1peACyEAQYASABEgLLCPD_BwE -
TRacker and alarm in one?

Do you know if trackers and alarm can still work off the battery even if the main loom is cut. Providing they are connected to the battery side? I have a very nice battery box and storage area which is housed away in a neat place and locked, no getting in there at all. If i wack it all in there would the tracker and alarm still work if the main loom was cut ot tampered with? -

Quite a plain neede, never looked at the needle alone before.. I have seen some with a type of threaded washer that you screw up and down, I guess this is why I was suggested to use washers as mine doe not have that threaded washer on..? Just to clarify, adding a waher will bring the needle up (which you can view lookign down into the carb, what does it do making it higher? Allow more fuel in? http://i64.tinypic.com/2yx3rqd.jpg

Will do tomorrow, cheers.

So remove that bent washer already in?

Just looking for some light guidance.. We assumed I needed to go bigger on the jets, my main was 135 and pilot was 40... I have seen online from TJ BRUTAL who know these bikes inside out, for a VLX that is running straight exhaust and modified air intake he suggest 142 or 145 on main and 42 or 45 on piliot. I was thinking 142 and 42 as I had some air resistance, running foam pods (not straight velocity stacks). Would anyone agree with me on this, want to try nail it right on first time. Also, these 'shims/washers', are these crucial and if so howe many and where do they go, on the topside of the needle?

My bike is finally built, new battery coming today and pretty much good for the MOT. We seem to think my bike sounds better when the choke is open, meaning it could be running lean/rich etc. So I need bigger jets? I have a good idea of what I am after as advised by someone who knows these bikes inside out. Is there a shop online or not based in the UK i could call for these puny luttle bits of brass? http://i63.tinypic.com/qpruhz.jpg

Hi. Had issue with a spark wire that popped out the HT cap earlier.. Tried endlessly screwing that sucker back in but was not biting... heard there could be a washer fitment that connects somehow? I ended up giving in and cutting it up to see! What does this look like... going to have to get a new HT cap now though. http://i66.tinypic.com/ieo5jq.png Thanks in advance.

Scrapping old electrical loom and starting from scratch?
thevoyager replied to thevoyager's topic in Pitstop
Well I am wanting to start again because I have 'chopped' my existing one down and minimise it, things like fuel pump and neutral/kick stand etc, not entirely happy with how I have reconfigured. So wanting to start it again and make sure I don't have any bad points.
