  1. I was there and made several videos....

    Youtube channel MrStelmer

I stayed at Box Hedge Farm B&B, a fantastic place and an equally fantastic full breakfast. Was booked for the 11.00-12.00 slot and got out around 4pm....

The bike went well, only blowing a brakelight bulb on the way home. Started to overheat in Wootton but it kept going. I spent a grant total of £0 on petrol as I cashed in my nectar points and planned my journey via 2 Sainsbury's petrol stations.

  2. New updates. Please pass this on to as many as possible:

I was too late to register, can I still come?

Obviously we cannot prevent people from using the public highways, but the organisers would like to ask those who have not registered to please stay away. If thousands of additional bikes turn up on the day there is a distinct possibility that the event may be badly disrupted or worse, shut down. The purpose of the event is to show support to the people of Wootton Bassett and to raise funds to support our troops and their families. The best way for this to happen is for the event to run as smoothly as possible. we are very sorry if you did not manage to register and we thank you for your continued support, but please do not just turn up. There are other ways to support us, such as donations, buying a wristband or helping to set up/run an event in your local area etc.

  3. There's in excess of 10k bikes expected now.

The organisers (not Afghan Heroes, just 3 people) are pulling their hair out and are trying to sort it all out. RAF Lyneham still support the run but the numbers are far too big for them to cope with.

I am going down with a group i'm meeting in St Helen's on the 13th, i'm staying in a picturesque B&B off the M32 and coming back on the 15th.

  4. I wish I knew about this before I got mine last year at the NEC  :x   :( :crybaby: :|

The velcro tab on the left boot broke off. The plastic adjuster thing at the top of the boot on the right boot keeps coming out.

Oh, just checked and mine have the bad stitching on that suede/velcro tab. All over there's loose threads.

Just found out they do not fit over my winter socks either.

Oh well. Back to the un-waterproof Nitro NB40's.

  5. Where to start...

Tuesday I glued the stripped bolt to the head using JB weld. This morning I screwed the nut on the thread up which sealed the blow. So far it's held and not burnt off. I'm gonna chop the head of the bolt off with a dremel as it's got a nut on it which will be suitable for tightning it up.

Been out on it today to Tockwith and back. 65 miles. Went to help a friend do some final preperation work on his restored old buses for show on Sunday at Elland Road.

Bike ran fine, despite the choke cable snapping this morning. Gonna check the plugs again as it has a misfire due to either running rich or flooding. Blasting through puddles took it's toll on the downpipes. Gonna have to touch them up tomorrow.

  6. How much is it worth? I'm guessing it is not worth enough to fund a new bike with.

My finances are bad for the next few years so i'm gonna call it quits and leave the bike world.

  7. I've had another go with this and finally sorted it.

When the gaskets arrive I will sort out the stripped threads with JB Weld as I can hack off the head of the 2 inch bolts that someone put in and use a locknut on the threaded stub. Might actually do that with them all, not sure yet.

Blows at the join where the can fastens to the downpipes and number 3 cylinder. Still, it sounds sweet.

  8. Well, where to start..

Sanding down the new exhaust revealed loads of tiny rust holes.

Removing the old exhaust has damaged the soft alloy thread. All 8 holes need retapping.

I'm getting rid of the bike. Had enough now.

  9. As promised, here's the pictures of the Exhaust. Was exhausting taking them.. :| :tumble:

It's a bargain for £45 as it cost over £20 for postage on both boxes. I'm gonna do my best to make it last as long as I can get it to. Even if I paint inside the pipe too....

Finally, these are useless for me as the trip reset comes out the side. Will sell them on Ebay. Anyone know if these are early GSX clocks or GS clocks?

Thanks in advance. It's much appreciated.

  10. Cheers. Most of the bike has parts from Wemoto lol...

CMSNL take forever. Took a month to get the carb jets.

I'm planning on getting a new exhaust anyhow later in the year from Wemoto so i'll get some exhaust gaskets then, providing the bike lasts.

Pics posted when I get home after 10pm.

  11. Where do i get exhaust gasket's from for a 25 year old bike? The old exhaust has none on it.

i've got a heap of jubilee clips and some putty to bodge on the downpipes as last owner made some diy method with the old exhaust using normal bolts which passed the mot fine.

They even said i'd never get it gas tight at the engine either as i queried it at the time.

As for the pics, i will post them up later tonight as i do not finish work till 9pm. Gotta love free mobile internet.

  12. It's here.

Bit rusty but hoping it'll brush off and i'm going to paint it.

The join between the downpipes and the silencer is a tad rusty and looks to be eating itself. Also, the collars have rusted away so bolting the exhaust to the engine will be fun.......

£25 though is a bargain so not complaining.

I'm working all weekend so will tackle it on monday. Any ideas on solving the missing collars? It'll bolt to the engine but will not get a gas tight seal. Will post pics tonight when i get home.

  13. Sorted now. Even got the clocks for £8. Hopefully the speedo will transplant into my clocks. If not i'll transplant the tacho and use the other clocks.

    Thanks again.

    One thing,

If the engine gets too hot, will it just cut out? Just an ongoing issue i've got with the bike. It'll idle for 15 mins then cut out and not fire.
