  1. I thought the coffee was a little different. I get a tea and get them to put a bag in the cup rather than 4 or 5 bags in a teapot without letting it brew. What a waste!!!!! The food is cheap quality and probably fried in Hydrogenated oil too.
  2. I'm not a fast rider/driver so no worries about getting pulled for speeding or doing anything risky. Could get pulled for the fact that I ride an old bike and cos it's posh up there, anything old is thought to be illegal as I found out in the Toyota.
  3. I have a GSX550, from 1985. It's probably older than most members here... Wasn't planning on stopping in Helmsley. There's a Jet petrol station in Kirkbymoorside.
  4. When the weather gets better I have a ride planned that I wanna do. I used to work round North Yorkshire and I know allot of back roads. Meet at Squires. Head to Helmsley via York, Haxby and the B1257. From there head to Rosedale Abbey in the lower edge of the moors. Features a nice 1-in-3 hil called Rosedale Chimney from Kirkbymoorside. There's a nice pub here too. Humpback bridge on the way out... From there through Pickering to Thornton-Le-Dale and follow the signs for Dalby Forest (£2 for bikes) and do the Dalby Forest Drive. Cafe here too. Very quiet and remote. Head out to Whitby as eventually we get to the coast road. Plan then is to head back from Whitby through Scarborough and Brid, home on the A166.
  5. According to the google prices the boots go for £139-£180. Jacket £300 and trousers £260. I got the whole lot for £525 which although not a big bargain, I still saved a few hundred at most, in everything I got yesterday.
  6. Oohh sir you found me out Seriously.. 1096 not 1036 http://www.mcleathers.co.uk/usrimage/cat5451.jpg
  7. I went today. Had been saving all year. Got an Arlen Ness 2pc (LJ5080 LP5081) and 1036 boots for £525 which I think is a bargain considering the prices I got from Google. Also got a boat loads of Knox stuff, including a back protector, a new lid and some other bits and bobs.
  8. How quick do them rideouts go?
  9. Any decent bargains on leathers? I like the RST 2pc suits, sure to be someone selling them there. Oh, what stand were them boots on? I need some warm, waterproof boots.
  10. Can anyone join or is it military/ex military only?
  11. I'm off on Sunday, what sort of offers on Leathers were there? Anything on Coldkillers/windstoppers too?
  12. I would have gone midweek but i'm taking someone who cannot/will not get the weekday off.
  13. I need want: New Lid. Broke the visor Goretex trousers as my dianese ones leak now. Warm, waterproof boots. Thermals. if i have spare cash, a decent 1pc to replace my 2nd hand akito suit.
  14. I'm going on the 7th Dec with a friend off BCF who lives in York. Will be wearing the TMBF fleece so say hi..
  15. Hi. Some of you know, i'm sorting out my GSX550 to get it ready for it's first MOT in over a decade with a view on selling it as a runner. Brake calipers have been sent off to a friend. I've almost completed the electrics, just horn and tacho to do now. The fork oil seals need doing. I don't have the expertise in doing them on my own and I need them to be done right. I could do with assistance if anyone would be willing to help me. (Dinner and petrol provided) In Leeds. Thankyou in advance.
  16. Gutted that I cannot go to this as I have no bike. I could hire one for £90/day from Startrights but is it worth it....
  17. Gonna have to decline from this now. The GSX is getting scrapped as it's too bad. Good job I found out now and i've not lost too much. Leaving the biking world for the forseable future.
  18. I have several problems. Biggest one is my bike. I have bought a lemon which needs some TLC. It's at Transit in York having it's last rights. Here's what needs doing on the GSX: All 3 brake calipers need cleaning and new seals fitting, Fork Seals are weeping, Exhaust is blowing at the collector, Needs an MOT, Inlets need replacing, Carbs need setting up, Detailed investigation work needs doing as engine might be wounded by it running very, very lean. It does seem to be rather hot when running. One coil looks to be weak, bad or this fault could be carb/mixture related. Inside 2 cylinders stay cold. Carb is a 2 pot into 4 jobby. Good news is chain and sprockets look to be decent. Bodywork is new. Electrics work but need tidying up. Allot of people have advised me to get rid. I've already bought 2 tyres, had the wheel bearings done and replaced most of the bodywork.
  19. Wonder if we'll get to be on TV? Anyone else but me on Daryl Denham's real radio breakfast facebook thing? Could be worth messaging him....
  20. Cool. BTW I like your sig. Someone must paint that for real lol....
  21. Crossgates. I'd prefer to tag along with someone to Devils as my Sat Nav isn't 100% reliable. Usually found all over Yorkshire in a Silver (YK05) Peugeot 206SW with Gamestec in the nearside quarterlight and a think bike/bikersoracle sticker in the offside quarterlight. Weekdays I can be seen round Hull/East Coast/Doncs most times.
  22. You know, this will be the first long run the GSX will have had for a long, long time. (It was taxed last in 1996) Best bring some tools.... I am planning a Whitby Ride on the 12th Oct (on BCF) via Rosedale Abbey, Dalby forest and back home to Leeds through Scarb, Brid and the A166. Hopefully it should show any problems up. Bike is getting lots of much needed TLC at the end of Sept.
  23. Dont see why not... however they will need to register on TMBF to get all the info before they take part. Thanks. Some might register on here, i've posted a link to this thread. Link to my thread, though you have to register and request access to the northern area. http://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=156006 Also posted in the National area which anyone can see: http://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic ... 70#1933770 I can't wait for this. Furthest i've done is 470 miles over a day and a half to Wales and back in the snow.
  24. Can I advertise this charity ride in the Northern area of another forum? Bikechatforums if anyone's on there.
  25. Cheers, soaked the excess up with old clothes but stupidly hosed the path afterwards. The path is fairly ok but the back lane looks a right mess...
