1. Notifying you that a service is due is useful. Restricting it so that only a main dealer can reset it is not.
2. Oof. Looks to be £60, so think I can cope with the warning light for that amount! Especially as it'll probably need another service relatively soon since I'll have done over 4k miles by the time I'm back from France!
3. Well because they didn't do the service, they're not willing/able to turn the notification light off, so will just have to run around with it on until the next service is due!
4. Cheers guys. Will give Pidcock Triumph a ring today then.
5. That seems straightforward, and a safe option. Given how regularly I ride I'm not particularly concerned about the battery draining, but notwithstanding that it claims to be fused, I have bought a cheap bit of kit, so am erring on the side of caution! That said, I don't know where to start finding a switched live, or what I'm looking for in possible relay locations! Assume you're talking to an idiot here, because on this subject, you are!
6. My bike was serviced before buying it, and I've since done about 2k miles. The bike is now telling me another service is due. I called the dealer to ask, and they said that because they're not a Triumph dealer they can't reset the thing which counts down to the next service. Does that sound right? Heading off in a fortnight for what'll be at least a 2k mile trip, so want everything in order before embarking on the tour!
7. See, I was wondering whether there was a way to ensure its turned off other than just the magnetic switch in the cover. How do you actually go about that? I'd like this to be the answer, but just wanted to check if there's a “better” option!
8. I've bought one of these USB charging ports: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00QTA1G7Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_zQLEe3wtNOCog It says it should just be wired straight to the battery, but I'm a complete novice with electrics and am a little nervous about causing myself an issue. End of the cables look like this - what should I connect them to?
9. Romans they go the house? No it doesn't. What's Latin for "Roman"? Copycat73 these pictures are doing nothing to speed up the next two weeks until my first summer trip to the Pyrenees, and first motorbike tour!
10. Awesome-looking bike, and awesome colour!
11. Well that's definitely an option, but I don't want to cause a rift! I have tweaked the Glossop loop to start/finish at the pub; 76 miles/2hrs 20mins in total, including Winnat's Pass, Snake Pass and a ride-by of Chatsworth House: https://www.motogoloco.com/map?route=39755 It would also be easy to extend it from Rowsley, going down the B5056 to Fenny Bentley and back via Warslow and Longnor, making it 98 miles/3hours. So, about this drinking. Do you mostly bring your own and sit in the field, or do we prop up the pub's bar for the evening? The extended ride could also easily go to Carsington Water, for anyone needing the tag. Assume the Brierlow Bar Bookstore will be done when leaving or arriving, since it's literally 5 minutes up the road from the campsite!
12. Only classes offered this year are chain adjustment and cider drinking. I'd like to sign up to both please. I'd also heard there'd be one on fitting Scottoilers, which I'm very keen to attend.
13. If anyone fancies it, I'm going out for a local spin with a few mates tomorrow evening. Meeting at 6.30pm at Sainsbury's in Arnold, NG5 6BN, departing 7pm for a 45 mile/90 minute loop towards Southwell, including a pub stop halfway round for a shandy. Post here if you're coming so I know to look out for you.

15. Well I'll defer to your greater experience, but I thought this was a biking weekend! Will plot them all and stick them on the satnav, so at least there will be options. Will share the motogoloco links once done, so whoever's leading has them too.
16. I've been given 3 recommendations: 77 mile figure of 8 loop through Buxton and Matlock. 63 mile loop to Cheadle. 65 mile Glossop loop. Will see if there's something which picks up the best bits of these and passes our campsite. Given that we've got all day, any objections to a longer route? 2 hours riding time seems somewhat short, even allowing for a chip stop!
17. Never been on snake pass! Will ask locally if there's a recommended for that kind of riding time then. Council revoked the bike parking charges for Matlock I believe.
18. We've negotiated from the previously, provisionally-agreed, starting point of me arriving late Friday night, and come to a new agreement that I'll be joining you all on Saturday morning. Stu, for the ride, what sort of distance/riding time are you looking for?
19. Lincolnshire has some great roads... Will have a proper look tonight, but I've only ridden a few roads in Derbyshire.
20. I'm in still in negotiations about my arrival time on Friday evening! Going to bring food for at least the first night, but expect I'll see what the pub has to offer for Saturday.
21. As an aside from a couple of other discussions, what tyre pressure gauges do you lot recommend? I'm planning to buy one, but just found this rattling around in the boot of my car. Feels like cheap metal-looking plastic, so not sure how accurate its likely to be!
22. Is there anything in the car park you can lock your bike to? Chaining it to something will be more effective No experience with those locks though.
23. Thats where ive been going wrong, I've been "Doing the happy that makes you shit" Is that a euphemism for drinking?
24. Happy birthday all!
25. If they fit well and the wrist closure keeps them on your hands properly, go for it. I had a very short pair (shorter than those) I was given for free, and whilst they fitted ok in the fingers the wrist strap was useless and I could pull them straight off when done up, so I ditched them.
