  1. Hi everyone 😃

The Ducati 998 is more than 20 years old now, short on horsepower compared to modern superbikes and has at least officially never won the WSBK championship. So you might ask yourself the question: How good is it on track?

    Let's find out:

Agree, id have one in a heartbeat beat if i could 😍.
Mechanically better and has visually improved with age, just too far ahead of its time! 😊

I think ahead of its time is exactly on point. Nowadays, even the winglets don't look out of place anymore.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder… the biking world is relatively conservative (little c) and isn’t always open to change. The jaw-dropping utterly gorgeous 916 set a high bar for Ducati aesthetically so any subsequent design replacement was unlikely to be well received. I thought Ducati did an excellent job.

It’s too late for me now but I still desire a 916, mind.

Nothing wrong with desiring a 916... ever 😍

    More cafe than racer.

To me it looks more like it's built for sunny summer lanes. Which is okay.

A British winter and the finish would really suffer. Especially with no real front mud guard.

Some good bikes aimed at this section of the market. With the Suzuki SV cafe, and XSR Yamaha 700. It's funny they all are virtually identical for power too.

I actually went out once this year when it started to rain. I'm still finding little niches I haven't managed to clean yet 😁

An entertaining vid, rather like riding in central London apart from the ignoring of road signs, which MOST riders here still obey! Interesting that he only reached the heady heights of 25kph once. I particularly liked the section where they passed the copper on traffic duty, the step-through rider on their right was riding one-handed, phone to his ear.

Hardly anybody was using the horn, unlike when I have been in Saudi or Jordan where everybody seems to have the horn sounding all the time.

I think he tried not to go faster on purpose. No point in hurting the foreigner 😉

They do honk quite a lot, but it was a rather quiet evening that time.
