Don’t blame you at all. It all happened so fast I was shocked/angry/drenched and tempted to carry on but the way the car ended up knew it was bad.

Very true. Goes to show you can have a flash Audi with all the knobs & whistles - traction control and wot not, but in the hands of a twat and wet roads you’re still doomed.

I had a bad experience with Bikesure. I was insured with them on my 125 Duke after doing my cbt. I passed my test and bought a MT-07 and rang Bikesure to advise and change everything over. I told them I wanted pillion cover and EU cover as I had passed etc. She said fine I paid the difference and she sent through the docs. When I read the new certificate it clearly said pillion not covered and no eu cover?? It was too late to call them so rang from work next day. I couldn’t speak to the girl who had been dealing with but her colleague told me that she had made a mistake. My current insurer would not cover me and would need a new policy with another firm for an extra £400 or so. Livid. Been told one thing and sold another. Didn’t recognise their mistakes and just wanted more money. I ended up cancelling with them, still charged a fee for that and switched to Aviva. Very happy. The advisor I spoke to there is from a biker family, he’d come home from school and his mum would have her engine in bits on the dining table. I can relate to that.

That’s funny! No I didn’t see her get out. I was giving my statement to the old bill and she was already in the ambulance.

Thanks Stu absolutely my opinion too. Let that be a lesson - You splash - you crash!

Thanks yep pretty shaken up he had a broken collar bone at least. Not sure about the girl. The police left him in tears about his driving. Karma I guess.

Had a close call Thu morning on way to work at Basingstoke. Been pissing down forever and lots of surface water. Came off M3 turned left at Black Dam roundabout and there’s a flyover ahead that always has a big puddle the far side of it when it rains. It’s a dual carriageway I was on the inside approaching the puddle doing 40 ready for it. In my mirror I see an Audi really travelling on the outside doing at least 70 so I guess he wanted to splash me. We hit the puddle same time, massive splash from him soaking me from head to foot. Lost vision for a few seconds, I slowed right down as he proceeded to do several 360s in a row across the inside lane. He hit a metal lamppost snapping it in half and rolled over 4 times down a bank and hit a tree landing upside down. Lucky to be alive. Young couple in the car.

Thanks Arwen, having just bought a new MT07 I don’t have a leg to stand on! I’ll check them out. -
Yep I think that will be my next add on... I can see it's not going away!

Hi yep want for orange hand guards and the orange crash bars. Thought about the Akrapovic exhaust which has a weight saving but think adds more to the 390 not so much to the 125. I'll see how I get on. It's all I'm thinking about every minute at the moment!

OK CBT passed today at 15:30, part 1 of the plan is down! Really enjoyed it, first time I've been on a bike in aeons and it felt sooooooooooo good! Learnt on a YBR125, it was ok. There was only me and a girl on the course and she wasn't getting it so bailed after lunch so just me and the instructor on the ride. Had a 2hr boner for the ride! Now sell car tomorrow and buy bike Friday!!

Hi Im covering as many bases with security as I can. It's got the Meta 357 TV2 alarm, will have an Abus ground anchor in the garage with the Abus 58 12 Kks chain and U Lock combo. At work and when out and about will also use the 58 12 chain plus an Abus disc lock Granit Quick 37 mini. Plus I've ordered a smart water kit. Can't do anymore than that! I'm doing the CBT with Excellerate at Mytchett Community Centre.

After much deliberation gone for this, happy with the weight and coupled with the alarm hopefully a reasonable deterrent. https://www.abus.com/uk/Mobile-Security/Motorbike-Scooter/Lock-Chain-Combinations/GRANIT-58-12KS-Black-Loop

Need to suss out what chains I can comfortably get on the bike have a Kriega RC25 pack. I can always leave the chain at work. Get a 2nd one for the garage.

Thanks food for thought!

Hey all. Doing my CBT in 2 weeks, not had a bike for 30 odd years so looking forward to it. Getting a KTM125 Duke on a 66plate. Comes with a Meta 357 TV2 alarm. At home will be locked in a garage but will add a ground anchor and decent chain. For work and out and about I don't want to lug a heavy chain about. As I have the alarm I'm thinking a solid disc lock on the front (new to me!) and more as a visual deterrent an armoured cable lock as the alarm and disc lock will back it up and be easier and lighter to carry. Any ideas? There's a shed load of makes and costs of disc locks, any recommendations for a 2016 125 Duke or are they pretty standard? Cheers.
