You are familiar, I'm sure with the price of Windstopper undergarments ... £49 - £69 is standard price for a long-sleve windstopper vest from most bike shops and online vendors. *WELL* I had a rummage through Google and I found a gem of a site! My order of two t-shirts and a windstopper vest came through today and the windstopper is EXACTLY THE SAME as the Hein Gericke one, but 1/3 of the price! Without wishing to fall foul of the advertising laws cast by Unsere Reichsfuehrerin (Vicki), I invite you to do a Google search for "cosalt shop" and click on the first link. Explore, and also do a search for "t-shirt" - they do heavy cotton t-shirts at a fraction of high st prices. I don't work for them, just mighty impressed!

Simple answer - leathers or kevlar jeans! I wear kevlars myself.

Weirdly, though, the windstopper pants are about the same price - perhaps even a few pennies more expensive from Germany. The delivery charges from Germany are only a couple of pounds more than from the UK. The only downside is that if you don't speak German, you may have trouble navigating the German site. The ability to speak two languages does have cost benefits!

I'm not sure they're really worth it though because you still need to get to the nearest repair place.

You can't get puncture repair kits for motorbikes like you can for bicycles! The reason is that because of the much higher speeds/forces involved with a motorbike, it would be dangerous to put a rubber sticking plaster over a hole in the tyre. Also, motorbike tyres are typically tubeless. If you repair a bicycle tyre and the repair fails, the most you get is a big *pppfffft!*, combined with the tyre going all flappy and you slowly coming to a halt. If the same thing happened on a motorbike (i.e. sudden and complete loss of pressure in the tyre), the likely result would be ground/sky/ground/sky/hospital ...

Lol! I have indeed been reading your HID thread ... I've seen HID conversion kits on EBay for about £50, whether they're any good or not, I dunno ...

I want to stick extra headlamps on my bike, with a separate switch on the handlebars so I can switch them on when it gets dark. I don't want a HID kit though. I know you can get a PIAA 910 kit, but they are fooking expensive! So, I plan to build my own. If my little plan here works, it will give me a decent extra lighting system for about £80. I know HID conversions are cheaper, but I want separate halogen lights. Yep, they are bloody loud! Mine is a naked and it fits nicely under the headlight. I put mine to good use today! Fücktard woman in a huge mercedes slowed down and stopped at the side of the road, no indicators, nothing. I started to pass her, then she just started pulling out without looking! Quick blast on the horn right beside her window (which was closed) ... and she actually jumped in her seat and slammed on the brakes! The horn has the desired effect.

The food at Loomies is damn fine. I can highly recommend the chilli con carne. Also, another excellent place to go is the George pub on the junction of London Rd northbound and Portsdown Hill Rd eastbound. They do a thing called a "chilli bad" - it is plate the size of two normal plates, with a full portion of chips, then a full portion of chilli con carne on top of that, then loads of cheese on top of that - all for a fiver! You will need to be taken out to your bike in a wheelchair after having one of those ... they are f*cking amazing ...

How big is your head??!! Also, with the front flip helmets, I have read somewhere that they are incredibly noisy at anything over 60mph. I don't know that though, never had one.

Today the weather allowed me to fit the new horn. It is a little bulky (although nothing major) and so wouldn't fit where the old horn is, plus it is directional, so it must point forwards. I made a little angle bracket for it and attached it under the headlamp mount on the bottom yoke, and so a few spade connectors, a couple of bits of cable and some cable-ties later ... it was installed! I left the old horn where it is just in case ... Anyway ... my f*ck, it is LOUD!!!

What size are your tyres then? "weird size"? Lol!

What bike did you have? I have an SV650N, I'm on sv650.org and someone on there says it fits and works perfectly with the existing relay. Perhaps you needed a new relay with yours? (apart from it not fitting on your bike, obviously!).

I've just bought a Stebel Magnum (139dB!) on EBay - the reviews say that it's a real teeth-rattler of a horn. My OEM horn is pathetic, like most bike horns.
