  1. I had a good look around 4cam the other day and it looks good. There's also http://www.dogcamsports.co.uk who do similar packages and I think Dan can recommend them.
  2. So does anyone know if the guy pulling a wheelie repeatedly past Willy Woods is a member on here. Sort of guy that makes the police pay attention to us bikers.
  3. two things i would check. disconnect or remove the fuse to you auxilary add ons.. then try as before and see if there's any difference. this will give you the drain from the add ons. check that the alternator is feeding a charge back to the battery, it might not do until you reach a certain rev range.. but should at some stage. cherga the battery check the voltage, leave over night and recheck, this will confirm or eliminate any loss overnight through a faulty battery or earth. I've replaced the battery with a new one today so I'm going to see if the problem reoccurs. If it does then I think there's a short. I have an oil leak that slowly and on tuesday when i had a fantastic run on a hot day when i returned home i noticed that the side stand light was on while the stand was up. If i dropped the stand and raised it again the light would go out but slowly start to brighten again until it was lit. I suspect the oil may have been that hot it's damaged the wiring somewhere near there and that's where the short is from. The light seems to be working ok now though but i've not had a big run.
  4. Hi, I seem to be having a very similar problem on my Honda VFR 750f that I had on my Marauder 125cc when I had that. The battery has been losing it's charge since the start of the week. I have an Autocom and three 12v accessory sockets installed in my top box that run from the rear light. I have charged the battery with an optmiser over night and put it on the bike today. With the lights (gadgets) turned off it starts up great and a multimeter shows it running at 14volts and if i rev the bike it slowly climbs while it's revving. If I then turn the lights on plus autocom and one phone charger the meter reading drops to 13 something or other and then slowly decreases until I rev the engine where it climbs but then goes down again once i stop revving. I can't imagine an autocom and one phone charger plugged into a fully charged phone will drain too much power. Is there a way to tell if it is a faulty battery or a short somewhere?
  5. Does your uncle not realise how much more dangerous 125's are? They don't have the power to get you out of trouble but have the speed to kill you. Try that direction with your uncle mate and see if he sees sense.
  6. Stu, it doesn't matter about the weather you should come. As a great man says to me many times 'The sun shines on the righteous'. Actually it's Dan that says that, not a great man.
  7. Having heard what happens when you get gravel in your road rash and how they have to scrub/rub your wound to get rid of it, i'd go for a broken bone and no gravel than gravel and no broken bone. Actually I'd not go for either.
  8. I bought some Red Route jeans the other day and they are no different to normal jeans in weight etc. The kevlar only covers arse, hips, and down to the knees. They also have a pocket for knee pads and hip pads however I've found the pockets too small for my knox armour so I've had to use some american football knee pads which fit very well. Not sure how well they'll do the job but they've protected my knees for years on rock hard ground during matches and training so they're better than nothing. I've also nipped to a bike shop we have here in Nottingham and he sells RST denim jeans. They look pretty trendy too, which was the biggest drawback for me when it comes to Draggin jeans, and they only cost £65 or thereabouts. I do recommend denim jeans though, I've not come off my bike in them but they aint half comfy and don't let a draft through either as I found out on the motorway yesterday at quite a high speed.
  9. Take them off now Chris, take them off. You'll be riding illegally otherwise. How good do you feel? I was stoked, a great big smile on my face.
  10. I can beat the price, I got mine from M&P for £15 and it's great. It now sits in my top box so I can double my carrying capacity if need be.
  11. Yeah I got stopped a few times just to be asked to pull off again.
  12. You don't always have to indicate to move off depending on what's around BUT it doesn't do any harm if you do it. Do one lifesaver as you get into position for your turn be that left or right. You don't have to do another lifesaver if you're looking and still moving and then pull out however it's always an idea to give a quick one as you get to the white line to make sure you're not being under cut. However, if you stop at the junction then before moving off you should give a look if you can, even if it's a quick glance just before the break in traffic opens for you.
  13. I've not been riding for long but the other week I enjoyed Nottingham, Newark, Grantham, Melton Mowbray, Ruddington and back to Nottingham. It's pretty much all A roads but I'm going to be looking for some nearer B roads somewhere.
  14. I had only had two lessons before I was told 'Wanna do your test next week?' I of course said yes and squeezed two more two hour lessons in and past no problems. Good look and enjoy it.

    Fuel Gauge

Don't people know how to use maps now a days? I know I use a GPS but it's not too hard to get a map and highlighter pen a route to somewhere. Stick it in a tank bag and you're sorted. Or use a GPS (Avoid Highways) option.
  16. Cheers dude, the problem is that a lot of radios that have vox capability don't have that ability when a headset is plugged in. I don't think the G7 radio's can do it and the only one I know of if the Kenwood expensive ones. I was hoping someone could disprove me on the Midland G7 front.
  17. This might be of interest to you and my dad is trying to drag me there on saturday so there may be a chance of a ride if he persuades me hard enough. http://groups.google.co.uk/group/uk.rec ... d83494be85
  18. I'm in Notts but I have a big assignment due for Uni so won't be able to get out I don't think as I'm seriously behind... hence procrastinating on here.
  19. It won't work. Look at the go slow by truckers, worked for a day and now look at the fuel prices. Best thing we can do is keep riding and wait until we're able to choose 'Non of the above' at general election time.
  20. I have an old nokia n73 phone that I use for satnav. I bought a 28 quid gps bluetooth thingymebob and installed tomtom onto the phone. This now sits in my topbox and Jane speaks elegantly through the Autocom I have BUT she also spoke through headphones or the £7.99 intercom I bought from Lidl not long back. I'm sure I also got her speaking through the £30 maplin motorbike helmet thingy they did too but that needed an adapter to work. But anyway, if you have an old phone lying around check to see if it's possible to install tom tom on it and you're pretty much there then for a fraction of the cost of a legitimate TomTom or Garmin.
  21. Fazer Pete. When I did my CBT I was told to drag my rear brake and really rev the engine etc but when I moved to the big bike 500cc I couldn't get the U turns right. The instructor then noticed after a while that I was using the back brake and told me to stop, only use the brake to slow down if your clutch control makes you go a little too fast. From that point on I didn't fail a single U turn. It's all in the clutch. Chris, when I do the U turn I rev to about 4000 revs, slowly move off and use the clutch only, ease off to slow and ease it on to go a little faster. You should never use the front brake, unless of course it all goes tits up and you need to stop immediately and in my opinion gently use the back brake just to slow slightly. The majority of roads, and any road you are taking too on your test, will be wide enough to allow at least three cars abreast to pass so three carparking spaces is enough. Turn in that space then you'll be alright. However I do suggest you get on the roads and practice as they don't guarentee it's flat. Although if you do it off road now in the new test then it's likely to be flat, not sure if you still have to do a U turn on the road part of the test.
  22. I need to wash my topbox out. Why didn't I just take water with me?
  23. Wow, what a difference having an engine makes. Had a great day today on my 750cc compared to the 125cc run I did there last time. Can't wait to do it again. Nice to meet you all.
  24. Who's back already? From where?
