  1. Hi I have done valve clearance on my lexmoto xtrs today and taken out for ride, now I don't know if is just me or actually the bike feels it bit more nippy, looking on net spec was 0.05 for inlet end exhaust, when I checked I couldn't get feeler gauge in so there was very tight and most likely never adjusted, now I'm sure I did read somewhere that tight valves reduce engine performance across the rev range, is that true I ask because I just don't know.
  2. Sounds good but there are not very liked bikes on Forums
  3. Hi Jevi First of all I wouldn't go by what the speedo is saying if that is what he is indicating to reference speed, my lexmoto speedo showing 75 when I'm doing 60, not bad if it was 75 but is not, ask him if it feels like the bike is accelerating but maybe just not showing? For choke I start mine up and I can manage only about 30-60 sec on choke then I have to fully open other wise bike will die, just adjust your idle screw a bit on carb and see if this will improve, could be just jets and carb need good cleaning, not a hard job, check your throttle cable going to carb, does your model have EGR valve? Link to near the same carb, will show you some basics and what is responsible for what http://www.ccwthariders.com/uploads/9/7/7/9/9779070/pz_carb_tuning_manual.pdf ...ish. how could you measure speed with out access to a speed gun? I'm curious to know if I'm doing the speeds my bike says I'm doing Easy, GPS app and I had also friend on another bike to compare result
  4. Try the bike with fuel added now, if is bit better then next drain, clean carb, refuel and go for ride.

  6. if your volt meter sits at 9v is definitely something wrong with electrics that is if your meter is working correctly, bike idle should sits beetween 12-15 and when you rev bike needle should get to 15. Multimeter at Halfords for £7.99 would let you test the stator/regulator and battery with out any problem http://www.halfords.com/workshop-tools/tools/hand-tools/rolson-digital-multimeter
  7. Don't buy stuff with out checking things first, unplugging regulator will rise revs, get your self a multimeter to check, you don't need expensive one. When you unplug lights revs will raise also as there is no load, on them lexmoto lights are run by regulator recifier if you have pink wire coming out of regulator Video below shows how to test regulator, you should get same sort of reading touching green wire on 1 plug and each yellow wire on the other, something in region of 0.480, mine recent was .267, .387,.485 my reg was faulty "> If I'm right once you block of your air intake, revs should drop if there is no change then you have air leak. I don't think your problem is electrics but worth a look with out spending money on parts.
  8. Lexmoto are bundle of joy , fix 1 thing then something else goes wrong, I did test diode before I went ahead with replacement of the reg, there reason why the lights wouldn't work because the regulator/rectifier have DRL lights build in to regulator, there is 2 version of reg/rec for them lexmoto one with DRL and one with out. I'm not whippersnapper so I know my way around cars ect but just been quick learning curve how motorbikes works, mine just haven seen much love at all but I will get there. It was very cheap purchase to remind me what is like riding before I get my Full licence and if I still like been on motorbike. " call it midlife crisis"
  9. TimR could be right, loosen tank off and support, get your self carb cleaner and when engine is running spray around intake and see if engine revs raise or drops or note of engine change that way you could easily indicated you have air leak.
  10. OK bike is all sorted now, lets hope it stays this way until I get my full licence, new regulator fitted, after charging battery on bench overnight all lights working and when bike is running I have steady charge current.
  11. to check electrics you will need multimeter, it well could be where the battery just doesn't have the juice to power the igintion ect. but then again you saying everything works fine when half choke on and not going faster then 50 mph I know from riding around you get a lot of vibration on them is well after 50 mph, have a look under tank for coil ignition, lead from spark plug to top of frame, will have black lead with spade connector and green lead under screw on frame make sure the nice and tight. http://www.lexmoto.co.uk/part/INTC010.php Where about are you might be able to pop over to give your a hand even if is just for testing electrics, send me PM
  12. I would check your electrics, clocks on them lexmoto are not very reliable so you can't judge by voltage meter what is happening, I know this because I had the same problem when I purchase my 2nd hand one, check all connectors/plugs, test voltage of battery when engine is off and when you idle then rev bike up, test regulator, you will need multimeter for that, on left hand side fairings where your indicator is there will be 2 plugs( 3 yellow wires and I think is green/blue white on the other plug) have a look at them, also have a look at the throttle cable, remove tank you will see that throttle cable splits in to 2 cables under tank, 1 cable go to top of carb the other goes to side for accelerator pump, when you twist throttle make sure the cable on accelerator pump end moves freely. I don't trust any mechanics so I would remove carb my self and have a look, check needle make sure the clip holding needle is in middle notch and everything moves nice and smooth. Start from basic them bikes are not complicated is just matter of checking things.
  13. Ok new regulator fitted what should be the voltage on battery terminal when I rev bike up? Please bear in mind battery is only 11.8 volts at the moment.
  14. Gone back to garage and notice when I remove plug from stator to regulator the phase one with 3 yellow wires bike picks revs up and I have nice 40-60v going in on plug but as soon as I plug regulator plug in revs drops and only low voltage.
  15. So a little update, Friend of mine turned up and i wanted to show him whats going on but for some reason it started to work as it should, so I was happy with that we check everything and worked fine, decided to go for ride, 30 min later pulled over looked at my headlights and to my disbelieve back to same problem. Anyone know what should be the voltage comeing out of Stator? idle and reving Does the regulator should get hot? I understand it gets warm but shouldn't over heat Also I removed that big nut on stator side and notice a bit of oil come out. I do apologize if the silly question, I'm happy striping car to bits ect. but motorbikes is all new to me.
  16. I managed to find info on the 6th wire, might help some one 1 day "A 6th wire allows the voltage regulator to measure the positive voltage in your wiring loom, helping to maintain a stable voltage under load" https://www.lambertsbikes.co.uk/product/6-wire-3-phase-motorcycle-regulator-rectifier-black-12v-dc/
  17. I have someone coming over with more advance multimeter to check power output on stator plug that way I can veryfi which bit has gone faulty, I just can't remember now how many wires leading to regulator there is at the moment and is to dark in garage to have a look. If I'm sure there is only 5 going from bike to regulator but there is 6 coming from regulator. Will post back tomorrow my findings.
  18. Hi I'm after a bit of help with Lexmoto XTRS from 2016, having problem with charging the battery and not sure if is the stator/magneto or voltage regulator, I made a 2nd hand purchase yesterday and I know it had brand new battery fitted and after 1h ride by the time I got home lights ware like candles, so I check with multimeter and showed 11.8v so battery dead, no much I could do but run my car for a bit to get some power back in to battery today, now the bike starts but lights are very dim, when I rev the bike up lights won't go any brighter, I did unplug the voltage regulator and tested voltage on plug before it gets to regulator shows 12.8 but when I rev bike up it won't go up, once regulator plugged in voltage on pins drops down to 8.6v and regulator gets very hot, interesting thing is I have 2 plug from voltage regulator and both have 3 pins each, everywhere I looked replacement only showing 5 in total 3 on 1 plug and 2 on the other. At this time not sure what to do with out chucking money away on spare parts that I might not need so if anyone could advice would should look and check please let me know. I checked connectors coming from stator/magneto and regulator also cleaned them with contact cleaner. Thanks
