  1. Well, once it sits for like week or so, it cranks over but doesn't start for like 7 seconds, after that its fine on the botton, probably not linked to spark plugs. Apart from that, drives like a litre bike should. Have bike for 2 months, started to do some servicing and these came up.

  2. Hi All, just removed spark plugs from my 2009 Honda CB1000R, 19k miles, plug nbr.1 and nbr.3 had a little bit of oil on their threads, the most had nbr. 1, starting from left side. And that's the side where is bike stand. Looking at the tips couldn't see any oil residue. Apart from oil, plug nbr.4 seems to run lean. Please could you give me your opinion, starting from where oil is coming from, is it rich/lean etc. For now plan is to put new plugs in till the end of summer, then dig more into it. Any info will be massive help. Thanks in advance.

  3. Though I will drop an update, at the end deal didnt happened, as I wanted cash on top. What you think, above bike GSXR 750 2004 23k on clock vs GSX1250 2012 28k on clock( full history, usb, heated grips, upgraded exaust can, fresh MOT, new front tyre, pads back front, coolant, oil, filter, plugs). He wanted 3300, i would like to have around 400 on top. Does that seems fair? Or you would swap 1 to 1?Thanks

  4. Look nice to me :thumb: , GSXR 750s are great bikes, I’ve not had much experience on one but have ridden a friends K4 600 a fair bit-everything is the same on them except a bit less power and I thought it was a great bike to ride still nimble and modern feeling.

     

    Thanks for your input. If everything goes well on the day, I'll swap my bandit for GSXR750. So fingers cross all goes well. Will be sad to see it going, but im sure everyone knows the feeling who loves their bike[/img]

  5. Looks pretty good from the photos.

    Loads of mods and looks like might have a Kais fork opgrade (looks like a Kais sticker anyways)

    If the price is right even if it needs a few jobs doing you can't go too far wrong with a gsxr750.

    Thanks, you reckon it would seen much of track life? Also I spotted painting lines on the tail wont match, would that be worrying?could be just beacause its aftermarket seat..

  6. Hi All, it looks like its time for upgrade from my Suzuki GSX1250. Have laid my eyes on GSXR 750,have found one example on the attached images. Its 2004 with 22k miles, a lot of mods and comes with original parts as well. Probably those who own these bikes could tell whether bike has been crashed, looks suspicious etc. from pictures. Please could you let me know what you think of below?

    Have studied over internet and things to look out for are gearbox, head bearings, if you have any usefull information please drop a note. Vieviewing is on Thursday, so any information would be much appriciated.Thanks in advance.

    You're absolutely right, Bob.....need to clean my glasses......but, as you say, it may be possible to find an o-ring that'll fit in that groove..... 8-)

     

    Thanks, looks like Suzuki got this wrong . Have a look at these pics . Note how the Tourmax aftermarket ones have been designed differently , presumably to cure this very problem.

    On these ones there are seals between those grooves, probably for the fix of the problem, will keep these as an option for the future.

Those coil sticks look like they have an o-ring on them.....but it's not listed as a separate part.....see if you can remove one and measure it and search for replacements of the same dimensions. I also thought that there were small drain holes at the bottom of the plug Wells, to let water drain out.....but they tend to block up? Or did I just dream that?.... :wink:

     

    Spot on on this one. As I was cleaning the spark plug hole before removing them, there was a small hole, so this might be for draining, not sure if it is. But if it was for all four cilinders it must be. Question is where the water would go?

  9. Yeah, but a new O ring would help as well.

     

    The only o ring was there is where the rubber meets the corossion and its attached to the coil itself. If there would be need for silicone, what kind of product to go for? As some of them might harm the upper engine.

     

    Interesting, I had a look at the parts catalogue and there doesn't seem to be anything to keep the water out except the two built in flanges . There is no separate O ring listed . So what would happen if you added some anyway ? They would slot neatly between the two flanges and would probably make a better seal . I had a look at coils on eBay and a few of them are pretty manky looking as well so this is obviously a design flaw .

    Would like to see if anyone of this bike model had the same issue, if so then I guess some kind of sealant is needed.

  10. The o ring at the top is supposed to keep moisture out of the spark plug tunnel. If you don't seal it from the atmosphere, one day the spark plug will have rotted and it won't come out.

     

    Hmm..it looks like o ring is not doing its job, should you use some kind of silicone to seal it properly? Thanks

    My bike is Suzuki GSX 1250FA 2012 27k miles so far. I have changed spark plugs today. Tough job, but at the end got there. But to my surprise when removing ignition coils, those looked in very bad shape, all 4 of them are very rusty. First thought was to change them, but on other hand, if bike starts, drives and has plenty of power, decided to put back old ones for now. Tests I did was mesure ohms between two pins on actual coil and all of them read 1.3 ohms, also checked if spark is coming out and each of them passed the test. Question for you owners, once you changed the spark plugs, was it the same story as mine, when coils looks in bad shape? Could be common issue? I will try to add pictures as well. Depending on your answers might need to look for replacment, if so which ones to go for? Thanks

  12. You did read the bit about "do not use with other coolants"? OAT coolants can form a gluey gunk that will clog your radiator if they are mixed with non-OAT coolants. And does your engine contain much magnesium? You're looking at a full flush and refill. Sounds like a right PITA to me. What was in there originaĺly?

     

    That's the aim, full flush, refill with new one as I dont know whats inside and when its changed.

    Silkolene-because its silicate, nitrite and phosphate free. It meets specs for the bike, designed for motorbikes in general, were Triple QX comes from eurocarpats and is desgined more for cars rather than bikes, from description it meets specs as well. That's were Im at, I think Ill go with Silkolene. I would love to have original one, but no luck in search over internet.

    Just done the oil change and now it comes to Coolant...


    I though it will be easy to choose one, but it gives me a bit of a headache...


    My manual says if original coolant is not available please use- Glycol base antifreeze compatible wit aluminium radiators...


    So far I have found and bough ''TRIPLE QX Blue Ready Mixed'' description below.


    Ready Mix Ethylene Glycol based Antifreeze with Winter Protection up to -36 C upon dilution

    Blue Ready Mixed Antifreeze/Coolant - 5ltr

    Suitable for all engine types including aluminium, and conforms to British Standards BS6580 (2010) and ASTM D 3306 & ASTM D 4985, SAE J 1034, AFNOR NF R 15601.

    It can be left in the system as a coolant and rust inhibitor for up to a maximum of 2 years in accordance with vehicle manufacturers requirements.


    Just wanted to see your opinion on this one, maybe someone can suggest product they have used?

    Like some of you said it makes sense to check with police if they know about this technology.


    Also if bike gets stolen and I get it back, at least i wont be paying 1000 pounds in excess fee to make claim, as this will be my first year.


    Bike will be secured with shed, screamer locks, movement sensors, ground anchor in concrete and expensive chain, disc locks.. I think it will be good deterrent for amateur thieves.!!


    As for tracker I will go with Rewire Security!!


    Lets see how it goes, and the White Bandit is coming home next Saturday!!! Can't wait:)) :cheers:

  15. Hi All, Im looking for the first bike!! As the bike wont be cheap and my first insurace to make a claim will be 1k in exess fee, was thinking about fitting tracker to the bike. I came across Bike Trac company. It costs 370£ device + instalation. There ia also around 100£ yearly service fee. It gives 24/7 day tracking and were GPS signal is lost, for example, bike hidden in container, it can be tracked down using RF bacon signal, and this is why I gave first hand to this company. Any feedback would be much appriciated. Maybe different companies, devices etc. Also daily it will be locked with Oxford chain and Paddlock, and oxford disc locks. Thanks
