  1. They always get good write ups, I've got the new sub4 which is at least twice as thick as the L2, so you might have issues with it. The design is excellent, it's not hard shell armour so it contours to your body, once it 'warms up' it's barely noticeable. I'm not sure if the L2 works the same, but I'd imagine so. Are there no stockists near you where you can try one on as a 'potential buyer'?
  2. I Don't use one at all, I can't find one that sits right on top of my jacket and back protector. I've never been keen on riding with a rucksack on anyway. I prefer to stick everything into a canoe bag and link strap it to my rack/pillion seat. http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keyw ... zgtk5l8f_e http://www.linkstrap.co.uk/
  3. Definitely prefer left, although I can negotiate right handers quite well too. Lefts always feel more flowing and smooth, I don't need to think about the majority of left handers, where as I always seem to put a bit of thought into rights.
  4. I found the bigger bike a lot easier than the 125, the extra poke is a real advantage on mod 1 too. It's good for your self esteem as well, when I did my first couple of lessons on the SR125 I felt like a learner, getting out on the CB500 made me feel more like a biker. No disrespect to the 125ists out there.
  5. I'm going to buy the new Forcefield sub4 back protector tomorrow, I've been doing without one for a while now because I've been waiting for this model to be released (my local bike gear shop only got them in on Friday). The general consensus amongst my riding buddies is that a back protector of some description is essential, you need something beyond the shitty piece of foam that many bike jackets provide.
  6. Yep, saw that one, we spent quite a while browsing all the t-shirts.
  7. I made it up there this afternoon after starting work four hours early... Entered every competition going, so I have all the spam that follows to look forward to. Like the rest of you, I sat on pretty much every bike, including the weird looking Victory things. The two most comfortable places I could find were the BMW RT and the Kwak GTR (both already on the wish list funnily enough). Most uncomfortable place was a tie between the BMW F800 Chris Pfeiffer Replica and the Green and black flamed Victory thingy, so if i win the F800 then I'll be flogging it. Didn't actually buy anything for myself but bought our lass a t-shirt and a neck tube.... Doh!!
  8. Well, I didn't get the time off. Friggin' gutted!!
  9. Just been sent complimentary wristbands and a car parking permit from a company that's gonna have a stand there. As a valued customer they thought I'd appreciate them!! And I do!!! Looks like I'll be booking some fast-ball holidays in if I can.
  10. I thought all you had to do was drop it on it's side..... That's what most of the naked-conversion owners I know did!!!
  11. Aye Prudhoe ain't bad. Close enough to Newcastle without being within range of the looneys.
  12. Bit of thread resurrection but hey.... West Denton.
  13. That's right, the three helmets I've bought (1 for daily use, 1 spare and 1 for my girlfriend) were all £200+ and none of them carry an ACU mark. They do, however, satisfy EC22/05. This article gives a bit of an insight into what an ACU sticker means (or how little it means as it seems). http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle- ... ticker.htm
  14. Yeah, free is good. Depending on time off I might be there.
  15. I know I've said this before but it gets me every time, of all the places to have a test centre!! Anyway, good luck mate, there's a Rocket III waiting for you somewhere.
  16. Good luck mate. Get yourself back on here to let us know how you got on.
  17. 'Loobman' Link for the lazy... http://www.chainoiler.co.uk/
  18. And after having another look...... here we are; (apologies for posting up a link to another forum, delete if you must) http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showt ... tem-review
  19. Pay however much you want to pay, if it's the helmet you want (and it fits of course) then buy it.
  20. I've also been trying to compare both, however I haven't found anyone that's bought one or even a shop that's sold one, I've been asking around for a few weeks now (although not on here yet strangely). I can justify the extra cost if it's as good as Scottoiler says it is. It's not as huge a price difference for me as I wouldn't attempt to fit a V-system myself so I'd have labour charges to pay on top, where as I reckon I could fit the E-system myself without any problems. A lot of people I have spoke to have just said to get the V as it's tried and trusted and apparently everyone loves them.
  21. This company makes some pretty good stuff, and a lot of it is guaranteed waterproof... http://www.ortlieb.com/index_black.php?lang=en
  22. Which is why I viewed the Spadas with suspicion until I heard from some 'real people' that they are actually quite good.
  23. Yep, merino seems to be the new 'industry standard' for base layers, far superior to polypropylene, a bit more expensive but worth it.
  24. I use Furygan Intervals, IMO worth every penny at £75. Can't find a link anywhere. Spada Enforcers were also recommended to me by a few people and IMO they are a bargain at under £50. http://www.customlids.co.uk/index.php/s ... Ghk0Ctxf/0
