  1. No it doesnt have an alarm fitted. I just hoping its a cheap fix, i am going to ring the garage this afternoon as the oil service lights on. I am hoping its not the alternator and its just a new spark plug or battery or fuse or something.

I had an aprilia rs 125 years ago, and i remember it having a similar issue and the rac guy came out and he just changed what looked like a fuse or something and the bike worked fine after that. The knackered fuse was stopping the bikes battery getting enough charge. The bike sounds terrible on occasions its like its making an electric short circuit noise. I have checked the battery and the clips etc look fine.

  2. I have a Yamaha mt125 2016 plate and i am having a couple of issues with it. The problems are all electrics based twice now the bike has cut out on me the first was my fault. I stalled the bike coming home from work and it was like the eletrics were dead. The bike wouldnt restart , the starter seemed dead and the bike in 2mins went too battery low. I did eventually get the bike started after switching it on and off repeatedly and waiting 30 secs in between. The bikes engine management light came on but once i got it going went off and hasnt being on since.

Next similar happened last night riding into work i was sitting waiting at a set of traffic lights the engine on thebike just cut out. I tried to restart it and no joy. I eventually pushed the bike off the road, and did the same again repeatedly and the bike eventually fired up. No warning lights or no low battery sign.

The bike has ran okay and being brill so far but these last 2 weeks has began worrying me. I commute 26 miles too and from work 4 days a week. The first time i had the issues was after the freezing cold weather. The bike was serviced at 4000-4500 miles and no issues till lately, when i am riding it now its like there is a short at times in the electrics.

The bike is due a service now i am gunna book it in on Monday. Has anyone any ideas whats causing the electrics issues?? i am praying for not a huge bill.

  3. Hi i was just wanting to ask the looney winter riders like me what chain oil they use through the winter. The weather being yuk i feel like i am fighting a losing battle with wet weather and a rust on my chain.

Can i use a mountain bike chain lube on my motorbike chain??

  4. Plastic surgery on your hands is definitely not something you want to experience living with, for the rest of your life.

My winter gloves. https://tinyurl.com/y6n4j67k designed for use with heated grips,

    Yowzers. Premium.

    Not really.

They cost today, a little under 1.9% of the cash price of the bike I bought last year. So, not much at all. They are worn mostly when the air temp falls below 10c.

I DO have plastic surgery on my hands and one very unpleasant side effect is the cold is not just uncomfortable, its agonisingly painful, because the blood supply never really repairs itself. So, i need decent gloves that will keep my hands warm and dry and protect them so i dont need to have even more plastic surgery. If i can justify spending almost £12,000 on a bike then Im not going to quibble over a couple of hundred quid to protect my hands. I only have two of them and need them. Same goes for my jacket and trousers. One nice side effect of buying 'premium' is they last a very long time.. Ive had these gloves for 5 winters now and they still look 'new'.

Got this too i got bitten by a siberian husky scars and tissue heal sadly circulation hence i struggle like feck in my left hand.

  5. That price is a little bit above my budget at the moment. I have ordered some Richa cold protect ones.

And once my bonus from work goes in at the end of the month i am gunna invest in some Oxford heated grips.

The issue i have is 7-8 year ago me and the ex kept huskies, we rescued one who was an absolute nightmare. Long story made short me and the ex broke up a dog fight with 2 of our other dogs, the looney dog we rescued took a chunk out of my left hand very badly ie 2 surgerys and 60 stitches later. As a result the circulation in my left hand is absolute horrendous.

  6. If you want a bike that will do 70-80mph without messing about with mods why dont you have a look at a Yamaha Mt125. Its a 4 stroke 125 i have owned one coming up a year and mine will easy do 80 no issues.

Re whats being said about Aprilia rs125's i owned a two stroke rs 125 in the past. It was a great bike for performance but was absolutely horrendous for reliability. Mine was bought and was destricted when i got it and i was alot lighter then but it would easily do 95-100. Personally i would avoid Aprilia's unless you have a mate whose a mechanic lol

  7. Hi guys what gloves do you guys use in the winter???

I am doing a 50mile a day round trip commute and i am getting a bit pig sick of having hands like red blocks of ice when i get in or from work. I am using moto cross gloves with 2 pairs of thinsulate gloves underneath and they just arent cutting it now.

  8. I would avoid Keeways and Lexmotos, have a look at a Yamaha mt125 I have being using one for a few months now and its a nice bike. I am sure you could pick up a decent second hand one for 2000-2500.

The dealer i bought my Yamaha did stock Keeways and Hyosungs they now dont. Reason being they drop too bits pretty quick.

  9. Okay I will at service I am not gunna piss about i will just ask for stock parts and pay for a decent oil. This is fine for commuting on its just weird 0-60 it flies upto 60. Then you pop it in 6th and the gear might as well not exist its the 3-5mph extra gear lol I am sticking with the MT125 till my tests done.

Next bike I fancy a Suzuki Sv 650 when I am through my test going from 15bhp with this upto 110-120hp on a Daytona will be a ted mental. A mate recommended riding something geared down and less nuts for a gear. By the time I am through my test I should be able too clear the finance on this too.

  10. Well I havent posted in a while, my bike has being a life saver I now commute home in 35minutes not 90-120 minutes. This has being awesome since 3 months ago my work start time altered from 1030pm too 8pm gerrrrrrr.

I will be honest I chickened out using it till March as up here the ice etc etc i just didnt fancy it.

I am still using my MT125 i will post up a pic later if I can, next week I am going too start lessons too get through my mod one as I am well itching for something bigger. My MT125 is great but I am sick of L plates and it tops out at 60-65mph. It will do 70 but i have too be caneing it too death and as my username states I am itching too get a Daytona.

I was going too ask guys whats are peoples thoughts re fitting Iradium plugs/Kn air filters and kn oil filters too boost performance. Are they worth the money??? I watched a youtube vid where a guy got an extra 5hp by going all kn stuff and he tested everything on a dyno.

  11. I need a bit of further advice i dont know what to do or whether its just me. I have had the bike out 3-4 times since i got it. I would of being out more but cash is tight and i am waiting for payday to buy leathers and trousers and boots.etc etc My issue is the mirrors on my Mt125 seem rubbish.

I am a bigger dude. ie 6foot plus and 95 kg plus an ex rugby player so i am very broad. Every time i have adjusted them they seem not to either stay in place, or on a ride i am having to pull over and adjust them as i cant see past me unless i ride with my arms tucked in. Gerrrrr i think some tinkering is needed here or i need to see if i can move them out.

Thats the only negative with the bike, everything bar that its fine. It does 60-65 comfortably, it handles better than what i did my cbt on (honda cb 125 thing). I dont think its gunna break any speed records or it dont like carrying a big dude but my riding confidence is still mehhhh very low its improving but i have no confidence while i have limited protective gear bar gloves and a lid.

  12. Haha it already has lol

Just finished done my cbt all past all done i dont have to go back. I have emailed off pics etc to the finance company and all being well i should be getting my baby on Friday.

    My bike

I have being and bought a lid today too i took on board what someone said re old lids

    https://www.google.co.uk/shopping/product/1?q=ls2+lid&client=ms-android-samsung&sa=X&biw=360&bih=612&tbs=vw:g,ss:44&prmd=sivn&prds=num:1,epd:17781134581351610008,paur:ClkAsKraXwShdwJd28l03hwv7h2q-kDDO8vjwejCRqM5ciVafXJCwbHRTmjRcsQP6v890h33yJuwcEpzJPfAVkokBqTiKmh8SDqOCCvT1uVn64KAEH8PBEhX_xIZAFPVH70iy3zZ-o9GYvXC7f1dh9wyAUM1GQ,prmr:1,pid:17781134581351610008,cs:1&ved=0ahUKEwjy0JjIvsPeAhVRfMAKHVWGCMMQgjYI8gU

Jacket and boots will have to wait till payday. The lids canny it has 2 visors a drop down one and a clear one.

  13. Well its done all bar my cbt lol

I have being today and had a look at some bikes in Durham, I have bought a late 2016 Yamaha MT 125 it has just over 2000miles on the clock. Its costing me 3150 and it comes with 6months warranty/a year mot and a year tax. The dealer have also chucked in an Oxford chain and lock. The bike is in mint condition, I looked at others but they were not a good fit I sat on a Suzuki GSXR 125, and an older Yamaha YZF 125 which felt bloody tiny.

The bikes in Silver and it has one previous owner who has basically done the same as me ie bought it commuted on it abit then got through his direct access.

  14. Yeah I am definetly going down the 125 route, buses are boiling my piss.

I have being and looked at a few different dealers that sell 125's so far its in between the a few bikes. I really like the look of the Hyosung gtr125 and the Suzuki gsxr 125, now before I get slated lol I am 6 foot tall give or take and I am about 95kg in weight. I am not a little dude, my cbt is next week so I suppose I will make a decision then I have sat on a Hyosung gtr 125 and it felt fine. I am going to have a look at a Suzuki dealership tomorrow. I am also going to have a look at a Yamaha MT125 that has 2000miles on the clock at a dealer ship in Peterlee at the weekend. And I am tempted by the Yamaha YS125 as they are within budget. I have being preapproved for finance upto 5000 quid so its decisions decisions time soon.

  15. I am getting more and more swayed too the 125 route as at least then i can get on the road quicker. It will also give me chance to continually build my experience levels then i can do a bigger bike lessons say 2-3 times a month while learning on a 125. I am thinking either a Honda Varadero 125 or a Yamaha mt125. I do not like the looks of the mini rossi replicas or suzuki boy racer 125's.

This is pretty much the route I took... CBT done and then a 125 to just get used to biking, seems all amazing and great til you get more confident and go out on big roads and you realise the 125 isn't so wonderful at that, so then you know it's time to get the Mod 1 and 2 in! :) plus at least with experience of riding the 125 behind you, you already know the basics of riding, so you can focus on the road instead of the bike.

Also my current CBR Repsol is a 125 so I'll try to ignore the Rossi comment :P

Sorry i didnt mean anything bad Elizabeth its just not for me, i did used to have a Rossi replica Aprilia along time ago the only difference was 25kg lol.

  16. As I read the situation in my opinion is you plan on using a 125 to gain a year's no claims then I I would ride it on the cbt then whilst the cbt is still valid do the theory mod 1 and mod 2 also I would suggest getting a new lid as if the lid you have was when you had the 125 in 03/04 then the foam in the helmet will have deteriorated and will not offer the necessary protection

I will invest in a new one thanks i didnt think of that, its being in a box in the loft for years thanks.

  17. Thank you for all the posts and advice👍

    My plan is set

Payday i am going to book in and do my theory test. I have been swotting up on my way home from work. Will get that out the asap

Then the plan is theory then is Cbt then lessons for the direct access.

I would love a Daytona but i think from talking to a mate its going to be a years wait. My mate said an SV 650 Sukuki or Yamaha Fazer would be a good bike to start with just for a year too get some experience. Get the insurance cheaper i doubt my 1 years no claims from my Aprilia will still stand ie back in 2003/2004.

As i said in an earlier post i did have an Aprilia for a bit but i havent ridden in years. Good plan????

  18. Okay this has given me some bits and pieces to think about it. About 10miles of it is dual carriage way. I am going to a few bike shops at the weekend so I will do abit research. When my mate was on about restrictor kits is that more for youngens that are not old enough to ride a bigger cc bike.

re Kit someone mentioned this before luckily I still a lot of it in my parents loft, I would just need some gloves and a new jacket, lid I have an agv one and I have some leather trousers and sidi boots.

  19. Hi guys i am not sure what to do long story made short I am 39 year old and at the minute i work night shift 4 on 4 off permanently.

I did in the past get lifts into work, and home from a lad on my team but the old bugger has now retired. The net result is i am now doing the journey by bus and its taking me 1 hour 45 mins too 2hours to get into work and i am having to use two buses. Its an utter ball ache as on weekends have to leave the house on a Saturday at 7pm and on a Sunday at 6pm. I get into work at 9 pm and i don't start till 10pm. Coming home on a Saturday morning or Sunday is just as much of a pain i finish at 7am and there are no buses until 745am. I have being using public transport for a few months now and i am pig sick of buses with pissheads/or youngens off there boxes, dead time etc etc etc

I live in Co Durham and basically get a bus into Durham city then from here hop straight on another bus to Sunderland.

I live 23 miles away from work i don't drive, i do have a provisional licence as i was taking driving lessons last year. By car the journey normally takes about 30-40 mins.

What route would you guys go down? I had when i was about 23/24 years old an Aprilia rs125 (unrestricted) and i had it for about 8-12 months before it got binned after it costing me a fortune and constantly breaking. As my username suggests i would love a Daytona 675, but whats the best route to go down?

Can i do my cbt then buy a restrictor kit and use it on a 600 or 700 cc bike?? Budget wise my other half has said she will lend me 4000 quid r

Would doing my cbt be a better option then buying a 125 again??? (bear in mind i am 6 foot 2 tall and weigh around 95kg)

I want something not super quick but reliability is key, finishing work at silly times in the morning is the main reason i am apprehensive re 125's.
