  1. I am in the process of adding a cafe racer rear hoop to my CG125.

    I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on where to mount the rear light/brake light?

    It is the same style as the one below:

    Any ideas would be helpful, I could bolt it directly to the rear hoop but I dont know how neat this would look :D

  2. I'd have fitted the tyres first , masked them off and then sprayed the wheels. And I wouldn't have used matt black either, it'll be a sod to keep clean . Apologies for being negative, good luck with the rest of your project.

     

    No worries, it's like with any project you make mistakes and find out things you could do differently next time. That's half the reason I decided to use cg125, as they are cheap and easy to work on. Thanks for the advice.

  3. Has anyone fitted a 150cc kit to a CG125?

    I have been looking at doing the same, there are a few different kits floating around online/eBay like the below:

    Do they require much modification? Or are they pretty much plug and play? I have read online about people having to enlarge open the crankcase with a dremel etc.


    I would be fitting it to a 1999 CG125 :D

  4. Yes.... use the rim protectors when you are taking the tyre off. Remove wheel, let air out (just remove valve core) and break the bead with your foot. Once you've got it started should be no problem. Putting the new tyre back on, make sure it's the right way round (arrow) and use plenty of tyre lube on the rim. Size 9 should suffice to get the beads back in the well of the rim then if it is a tubed type put 2 or 3 lbs in to take up the slack in the tube and make sure it isn't nipped between the tyre and the rim. If you've got no tyre lube, washing up liquid will do but bear in mind it's got salt in it. When all looks OK, inflate gently checking for nips etc as you go. You might have to over inflate the tyre to get the beads to seat properly. Take your time - it ain't a race.

  6. I see a slight problem. Your diagram shows the routes but similar to the underground map it is drawn for clarity rather than correctness of cable length


    I don't know if you have made a harness before and therefore have the experience to translate this into a real harness, but the way harness specialists work is with a large sheet of wood or mdf and on to that they draw lines to show the route of the loom to all the ancilliary parts to be connected. It makes sure that the wire lengths are correct and the harness will fit when offered up. To this wiring harness design they physically attach the wires fastening them to the diagram on the sheet.


    To each wire end they add labels showing the part the harness connects to and the connector they will attach at that point.


    This open layout makes it easy to wrap the harness so that job is complete before fitting to the bike.


    I don't know how easy this would be to do but I hope this information will assist.

     

    That's great, thank you for the information. It seems a logical way to do it, this is my first attempt at motorcycle wiring so any advice/information is greatly appreciated.

  7. Thanks for the reply, would you recommend adding an inline resistor? If so where would you suggest this was added?

     

    Personally I wouldn't mess around, and just stick a small battery in the capacitors place........but if you insist on using one, I'd take the red wire from the Reg / rec straight to the capacitor via a resistor, and then run the rest of the red circuit from the capacitor ......so that the circuit is fed from the smoothed voltage from the capacitor..... :wink:

     

    I think I will just fabricate a small battery tray under the seat and use a small gel battery if it makes it easier :D

  8. I am currently in the process of building a CG125 the wiring is an absolute mess! So I am looking to build a completely new wiring loom.

    I will be replacing the battery with a capacitor as it is a kick start only model and the bike will only be used occasionally. I have thrown together this quick wiring diagram in Microsoft paint (I apologise for the crudeness of it!) Can someone please have a look and see if they can see any problems?
