  1. Cheers guys,

I wasn't sure it was going to happen 1st thing. Seems the DSA in Macc are having some problems with their security firm. No cones set up yesterday for Mod1 so all Mod1s postponed to today. When we arrived at 8:30 the 8am Mod 1 hadn't been done as the security company had let them down again and there were still no cones!

Kevin was really good, re-organised everyone and took me out first. Poor Mod1 guy from 8am must have been sweating! He did start his test as I was leaving so at least it wasn't cancelled again.

Just been out for an hour before dinner, been itching to go all day but had so much on! feels GREEEEAT!!!

  2. Well Done mate.... Wish I could say the same !! :(

    Your time will come :)

    Thanks Vicki

I'm only jealous 'cos unclebob beat me to it !

Attempt number 2 in a few weeks... patience and a positive mental attitude will see me thru. I'm just itching to go shopping but couldn't stand the thought of a bike in the garage that I'm not allowed to ride.

I can't afford to book a training day every time I want to get out either though so I need to pass the blommin' thing soon

  3. Mod2 23 July 2009 - Macclesfield

    I didn't lose Kevin!

He pulled me up for not being quick enough on the same dual carriage way, but he was on a bike this time so he kept up easily. Apparently having told me we were on it for 3 miles he wanted me to really go for it, he wasn't happy with 60, should have been 70 all the way. He didn't fail me for that though... there was more!

Passing a line of parked cars and a woman got out of one of them at the far end. There was a car approaching in the other direction so I slowed down, and I thought she'd stepped in between the cars before I got to her. Kevin thought not and that I was too close to her. I can see his point, the car coming towards me was far enough away for me to have pulled out wider and back in again before it would have been a problem, and as he said, if it'd been my wife and him passing her, I'd have wanted him to be on the other side of the road.

Next was 'angled pull out', I pulled out from behind a parked car as instructed, but some begger in an Audi was pulling out round another parked car on the other side of the road. They ended up on my side of the road and although there was plenty of room I should have waited.

Lessons learned.... maybe next time!

  4. I am sooooo relieved to have that out of the way. I've been dreading it for ages, panicking about putting feet down, clipping cones, not going fast enough through the speed trap. To top it all, it was tipping down on the way to the test centre this morning and I was really not looking forward to the swerve and the emergency stop in the rain!!

As it happens, the sun came out, everything went as well as I could have hoped, and considering I was worried about hitting the 50kmh limit, swerve at 63 and emergency stop at 66 tell me I had nothing to worry about. The only comment was "It's a good job it had dried out a bit with those speeds!"

One happy chappy heading for Mod 2! :)

  5. The thing is I booked a whole week of work for the end of this month with the thought of starting on a monday morning and passing my test on the friday afternoon, but this doesnt seem to be the case. Has anyone else managed to have their DAS course spread over a period of time?

My DAS was advertised as a 5 day course but is actually split.

The problem is, I was told you need to pass Mod 1 before you can book Mod 2 test. DSA need 3 days notice to cancel else you forfeit the fee so if you book all in one go and fail the Mod 1 you'll lose out.

I'm training this weekend and taking my Mod 1 test next week. One passed I'll be booking Mod 2.

Seems sensible to me and saves me taking a full week off work.

Where are you located? probably different schools will handle differently.

    Good luck with yours anyhow!
