  1. I gotta say, i'm fine with the helmet requirement and I agree that if ppl are daft enought to go without protective gear then good luck to them they will most likely change their minds after their first off...assuming they are alive and capable of riding. at the end of the day, they can't take away our right to be an ass.....tho they will give it a bloody good try. so no, I dont think we need it to be required by law
  2. Hey, I use skullcandy Asym headphones, good sound quality and they dont cost the earth. They fit well under my lid but i suppose it might depend on what lid you have how comfortable any headphones will be. Tho I admit that i dont listen to music much when i'm riding.
  3. thanks everyone, i'll get myself a manual for the bike and then have a look and see whats what. hopefully ill soon have squeak free breaks.
  4. Hi all, This has probably already been asked and answered loads of times but i canny find it. I got my new bike yesterday (new to me that is), and all is well except that teh back brake squeaks like..well like a very squeaky thing. It only happens at low speeds anythin below 15mph. The brake does what its ment to do it stops/slows me down but is there any way to stop the squeak other than not using it that is. any advice would be appreciated
  5. cheers for the info everyone. regretibly it no longer matters as the bike is being written off by the insurance people but thanks any how
  6. this should possible be in the bike section but I wasnt sure so im putting it here. I'm just wondering if there is any way to tell if a bike is restricted, if it is supposed to have been de-restricted. I have no idea what to look for on the bike, but im told that mine was de-restricted just wondering if there is any way to check (once it comes back from being repaired) oh and its an 1997 er-5 cheers
  7. is the Kriega backpack designed for bike use? like designed not to bust your back up or are they just a good make of pack? I'll just google them and stop being a lazy git edit: it would seem they are, another thing for the shopping list.
  8. cheers peopleoids i'll have a wee look down at b&q
  9. I was wondering where you got the non-slip rubber or atleast what type it was (other than non-slip) as both myself and a colleague use tank bags and both have concerns about the tank being damaged. any info would be appreciated cheers
  10. Got a knox contour myself got it just after I passed my cbt got hit by a car 3 months later, but not a spot of damage to my back (much to the surprise and disbelief of the doc's who x-rayed my back 3 times before looking at my broken arse), So I'd highly reccomend getting one just make sure it fits good. oh and the plate sruvived too and is still in use
  11. these are the panniers I had http://www.hein-gericke.co.uk/shop/product_info.php/products_id/6646 I think the middle strap is intended to go under the seat but I found that they worked well enough with the ties that came with them and a couple of bungee cords
  12. From what I remember of my YBR125 (before a car broke it ) there isn't a lock for the seat. however i'd suggest a tank bag for carrying atleast some of your gear, they are easy to fit and have a reasonable capacity. Also I had some panniers from HG that fitted over the top of the seat and attached to the bar under the back of the seat (I'm sure it has a proper name but I don't know it)
  13. If you'r really not sure about it then you could always do your CBT as a seperate element and see how you feel on that rather than pay the whole amount and discover you don't like it. Tho that might end up costing you more in the long run. But I have to say I agree with Mckeann, you won't regret it
  14. thanks for the link, it explained it all without getting complicated. I checked the pads and they still have plenty left on them, so all is well. thanks again for the info, i feel a lot better about riding my bike now
  15. Another one here Douglas From Glasgow
  16. Cool, I have a feeling that it's just the pads touching the disc since ther isn't any scratching, I didn't know they were always in contact like that so I was worried that they might be needing fixed. thanks for that.
  17. Hey, Just here and asking questions already... I have a kawasaki ER-5n and I noticed that the pads on the front brake are grinding against the disc. The wheel still turns freely when i spin it but i can hear the pads on the disc. I'm just wondering if this is something I should get checked out or if I can leave it as it is. any help is most appreciated. ta
