We've just had delivery of a new bluetooth system - Sena SMH5, it sounds very very similar to the Scala Rider but retails at £90 for a single unit and £170 for a dual kit.

Like the Scala Rider, they are very easy to install, fixing directly to the side of the helmet with either a sticky pad or a clamp (the unit can easily be unclipped and removed for charging).

Stereo ultra-slim speakers, directional mike and easy to pair up. I had the unit fitted to the helmet and paired to my phone in just a couple of minutes.

You can pair it to up to 3 other devices, but I think, like the Scala, you can only talk/listen to one device at a time, which is annoying if you want to hear listen to your satnav and talk to your mate/missus.

On the plus side though, the sound quality was superb and the range isn't bad either ~100m in heavy traffic and a stated 500m on the open road with direct line of sight.

It's a good quality headset and I'd buy one for myself to connect to my phone, which I would use for music, satnav and incoming calls. But it's not for having a ride out with your mates and chatting with them (unless you only have one mate).

is it a 125, learner friendly route?? if so im up for that

Well, yes, I guess it is a learner friendly route, we're not using any motorways, but there will be national speed limit sections.

Local bike shop I work at (John Carr Motorcycles) are organising a bit of a ride out from our showroom in Alfreton and taking a ride up to Squire's Cafe near Leeds going via Newark and Gainsborough.

This looks pretty good image quality, though the audio is diabolical due to wind noise mainly I think. I'd be interested in seeing if anyone can come up with a solution to this (other than simply dubbing on some music).

I might well have a use for one or two of these camera's and at £18 it seems like a bargain.

Might get some as Xmas Prezzies for people too.

well, I was there keeping an eye out for the "black helmet with the dragonflies", but have you any idea how many black helmets there are there

I should be down at MFN tomorrow, I've managed to blag the RSV4 from work I just need to learn how to rid it properly now

oh and don't worry about what gear you're in, I never know what gear I'm in and always end up trying for another gear even when I'm in top. Stick with it though, once you've got the clutch/throttle control the gears are a piece of cake
