  1. I need to get new downpipes for the trusty CBR600F, they are rusting away and there is a hole (maybe more) which is getting progressively worse and makes the bike sound like a very close relation of a jet plane on take off.... So does anyone know if these are any good

and if not what would you recommend?

  2. Got an 08 CBR600F and the headlight is supposed to be on permanent - it's twin headlight and the left hand one (if you're looking at it from the front) is the one that supposed to be always on, other comes on high beam only. Problem is that it keeps going off and high beam wont work then either.

There isn't a fuse problem and the lamps themselves are fine. I took the connector out and cleaned it and it seemed to work for a while, then it started playing up again. Took it to the shop as I really hadn't a clue and they reckoned that they'd fixed it, 2 or 3 months later it's giving me grief again. It seems, in my limited knowledge of all things electrical, that the problem is stemming from somewhere near the start button - bear with me here... I turn the ignition on and sometimes the headlight comes on sometimes it doesn't, hit start and the light flickers, occassionally it stays on (bonus) mainly it goes back off. if I nudge the starter the headlight comes on and stays on. And basically on it stays all the way to work (16 miles, fast and slow roads, speed bumps, potholes the works) or wherever else I'm going.

So any clues, shop I took it to originally said that it was a simple fault and that I was lucky as it could have needed a new something or other (OK vague I know but it's 2 or 3 months ago now) and it would cost around £500 - they still robbed me blind anyhow I reckon.

There has to be a loose wire but how do i go about finding it and rectifying the problem?/

  3. Got myself a nice new lid (Shoei Beowulf) they even changed all the padding so tht it fits properly - I must have tried on every make there was and NOTHING fitted - all way too big so thank you Shoei for doing alternate padding. Also got a nice new pair if Sidi's - make a real change from the kids motocross boots I've been wearing for years. Food and drink was extortionate - but what a great way to spend Valentines day with the other half :o

  4. My other half Parked in a disabled bay when we were taking my mum out one day (she has the blue badge) and was subjected to a torrent of abuse from some old guy. When it was pointed out that my mum was registered disabled, had the relevant blue badge and we were entitled to park there he was less than happy. I asked for an apology but just got more abuse - some people.........

On another note went to park in a bike bay one Sunday only to find 2 cars parked in it. Asked the traffic warden if he was going to book them as it was clearly marked motorcycles only and he said no it didn't count as it was Sunday. When I said I was going to park in the disabled bay he said he'd book me as I wasn't allowed and got really huffy when I told him that surely as it was Sunday it didn't count :D

And before anybody has a go - I would NEVER use a disabled bay unless my mum was with me.

  5. Two of them today. First is the cyclist this evening who shot out of a one-way street the wrong way dressed all in black and with no lights, I narrowly missed the muppet and he proceded to shout abuse at ME...... Second was the British gas van who was on his phone and leaning toward the passenger side of his vehicle (guess he was looking for something) who veered across and almost hit me as I was waiting to turn right onto my drive after work.

  6. I tried felliway but didn't work for my monsters, but that doesn't mean it won't work for yours. Pets at home (or whatever it's called nowadays) do their own version too, which is cheaper - wish I'd known that before I bought felliway.

Was she in a home with other, more aggressive cats before as this may be contributing to her flying at the older one you have?

I reckon it is probably just a time thing and she will settle down once she realises that she is well loved and that there is enough to go round and that your other cat isn't a threat.

  8. Thanks. I used to use them (Wulf boots) but they changed makes of boots (about 6 years ago) and they were too tight round my calf. Will give them another go maybe they have got different stock in.

In 20+ years I have had 3 pairs of boots - Fox, Wulf and now On-Off Road, but can't find any of them. have tried Google but it throws up all sorts of weird stuff and fleabay is no use either.

  9. My beloved motocross boots are nearing the end of their life I've had them about 6 years and they have been worn pretty much every day and in all weathers.

Now here is the poser for you all.

I only need a Size 4 and I'm blowed if I can remember where I bought my current boots. I had this problem before as when I ring shops I invariably get the response "I'm sorry we don't stock children's sizes"

So, if anyone has any ideas or suggestions all will be appreciated. I live in the Harrow area and J&S Accessories Watford don't do anything smaller than a 6. I also travel up to Lincolnshire fairly often (mum still lives there) if that helps any more.

  10. I was happily blasting down the A1 Sunday, after a great time back home in Lincolnshire, when my trusty SV cut out. Managed to get to hard shoulder without being squashed and called the insurance people as I have breakdown with them. Good old SOS arrived mega quick (about 35minutes) and relayed me and bike to my mates place, he's a mechanic. Turns out that trusty bike decided to blow a gasket, I lost the oil and now have a ceased engine. Here's the question, anyone know of a reputable breaker that may have a second hand SV650 engine, it seems that it wil be cheaper by miles to get an engine from a breaker than to try and repair mine. Apparently I blew it big style..... Add to that I've not long been made redundant and am really broke, so if it's really cheap all the better. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
