  1. Because of my circumstances I did my mod 2 the day after my mod 1, but it was a risk.

I basically did mine on holiday! I went to stay with my mum and step dad during my summer holidays and my step dad paid for me to do the CBT, it took me a week to do that, as I had never been on a bike before.

My instructor then did a week with me on a bigger bike, an hour or two a day...it was exhausting and my concentration used to go. I think I dropped the 500 twice and he threatened to put me back on a smaller bike!!!!

After about a week and a half of riding round and praticing for mod 1 - i was lucky bacuse the centre i was learning at was also where the mod 1 circuit was layed out - I then did my mod 1 a day before I flew back home (with the intention of taking mod 2 in the october half term)

I failed it due to nerves so in the end, booked to come up in Octobe for 6 days, spent 3 riding round and practising mod 1 then took mod 1 the morning before I left (was supposed to be the evening before but by then it was getting too dark to do it) and the took mod 2 the day I flew back out (honestly I had 2 hours to get the plane after i passed!!!)

Luckily for me I passed both, but I don't recomment it, my step dad was paying which added extra pressure i suppose, but in my case it focussed me.

It's all down to the individual and the centre. My boyfriend did his with only a few hours experience on a 500 because the centre said he was a natural rider and again we only had a tight time frame (good job he's good) We don't do things easily. We were lucky his centre had time and space for him.

If you fancy doing a holiday and doing ur mod 1 and 2, go to Kirkwall in orkney and look up Bikewise and a bloke called Graeme. Perfect bloke and teaches you properly!

Plus less of a queue for tests (although you need to go up at the right time) and a lovely holiday with challenging riding condidions to start you off!

  2. it depends what your lid is made of....I have and Arai and go by what they say on their website....but I think the advice is Arai specific.

As for decals, google them and have a look, I've not yet found an exciting full set but I think they exist, sometimes ebay sellers have them.

Google inkjet decal paper as you can make your own....not sure how fiddly it is but my step-dad bought some to ave a go with so guess I will find out soon!!

  3. Hey, thanks everyone. Last night was a bit rough lol. I normally actually don't care that much whether im alone or not. I actually decided that I'm fine on my own. I just got very frustrated that men just seem to mess about and never know what they want.

It's all good, I'm once again quite happy on me todd and am looking forward to doing what I want without having to consider someone else :)

    Yay me!!

  4. maybe i do come across as that. I try not to :( I do all the right bits....like not txt when im not meant to, dont call when im not meant to etc etc....is it too much to ask for someone just to be looking for something nice without all the sodding game playing and bloody fear of actually spending time with another person

oh and here is a pic of me....dont laugh please

And if you do, its cos i spend too much time in Squires

  8. Why do you need to buy helmets? If it is simply for an art project, why not ask people (perhaps on this site) to donate their old helmets and you pay the postage (which will be even cheaper) and that way you will get a mixture of materials, polycarb, fibre glass etc.

Even old used helmets can be made to look pretty good, and no health and safety issues as they are not going to be used as you say.

Yeah I did say in my firt post donations would be helpful (and paying postage or me picking them up would be a good idea)

I really need them to be white I think....less preparation that way but yes....anyone who doesn't want their lids anymore I would gladly pick it up or pay for postage.

  9. I don't think it matters about the paint on the lid in this case as they won't be used other than as a canvas. Your right about the paint ruining it tho, same as fairy liquid....

    Edit:

Did't tell me ppl had repied when I hit send

Good idea I will ahve to do some testing first....thinking of using acrylic paint which is non toxic and im guessing would be fairly safe....but will test none the less

  10. u cant actually paint a cheap lid as it ruins it and reacts with the helmet, not an expert on them but someone will be along with a price guide soon no doubt lol

instructor told me this on my CBT, for some reason its stuck with me lol, dont know why

yeah but they aren't actually going to be used....as long as it lasts long enough for a photo it will be fine.

I may look into spraying coloured lids white first...

and I'm using it at Btec and GCSE level so working in groups wont be an option as assessed work needs to be individual....

    Thanks for the ideas guys!!

  11. right odd question...As an Art teacher I'm hoping to do a topic on designing Lid graphics. To my suprise my head of department a) agreed!! and b) asked if we could get cheap lids for them to actually paint their design on!!

I'm really keen for this to happen so need some white motorbike lids for the kids to paint on. two problems....quite a small budget and need quite a lot of lids....anyone got any ideas??

Tried ebay but can't guarentee finding enough numbers for cheap enough prices. Any ideas (or indeed, any donations of white lids!!! :P ) would be great!!
